Although it would probably inspire hundreds of GP owners to produce buckets and buckets of crap(i'd probably be one of them :) ), it would also open a few doors for those who do have excellent ideas but little in the way of coding skills and even less time to learn how to code.

I remember when I was doing research on the GP32 before I bought it, one article somewhere (havent found it again since) stated that the GP32 came with its own development package, and it showed a picture of a program which looked similar to RPGmaker but with support for other genres. I am now aware that it was probably a hoax, but do you think one will ever get made?

I do mean by the way, a program for the PC rather than the GP itself. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to produce, just devkitadv with a shell, gui and point and click interface.

This would be an amazing tool, If it is possible.

Please :) , Someone make this possible, It would help so many people.

I can not program to save my life, Well, I made a matermind clone back in the dayz, In B.A.S.I.C (On the S.A.M Coupe), Totally crap, But it worked ;) .

Just my 2p

Yeah, i made a program (abeit a shitty one) for the pc last year using a coding program like that. It was a free program so whoevers thinking about making it could search around 4 the free ones to copy ideas from. Oh, and if anyones interested in tryin this crap game go here.

It'd be cool for someone to write a high-level language to use the GP32's features. Something like AMOS on the amiga.

See here if you don't know what I'm talking about. It's an interpreted/compiled high-level, BASIC-link language that allows you to quickly and easily write programs/games/etc for the host platform (in this case the Amiga).

Would be cool!

Also, something like shoot-em-up construction kit would be a laugh for people who don't even wanna go as deep as AMOS went.

A platformer, or beat em up creator would suit me really.
I am desperate to produce a Sonic game for the GP32, and I just started learning C, but its hard to find the right books for someone who needs the very basics such as a "{" means this and "function" means that and online tutorials are all the same thing really. Also I got a job recently so all of the time I claimed I had a while ago has just dissapeared.
I am producing a 3rd person PC game as you might have read, and that uses a variant of C, but the manual tells you exactly what to do and you don't have to worry about the hardware.

1 question:

IF such a tool were to be made, would it still be legal to sell the games that one makes with them? Or would it just be like RPGMaker2000?
I would expect that would be up to the person/people who are developing the tool

An easy (well i say easy i mean easyer than some other game making tools) one to do would be a graphic adventure in the SCUMM Style. once some on had writen a game like that you would have all the foundations of any other game using that interface.

A Menu
A way of displaying backgrounds
sortinging inventory
making the character move to your mouse clicks.
Etc

To make a new game round that base system all you would need would be a writer to sort out story & dialog . An astist and some one slightly savvy with the game code to change the gfx of background and sprites, movement paths and link the screens differently. In fact some one could probably make a Visual Basic front end so you could set gfx, movement, link screens and place items, sort out some simple if X is used with Y then display.... or if open is used on door change graphis to doorOpen, etc in a graphical interface, that spits out the code for you to compile and put on your GP.

The person who would make the tool would probably be a member of the community and I doubt one of us would charge for the games to go on sale.

Are people absolutely sure that Gamepark haven't already released something like this? (maybe in korea only)

I'm certain that I saw something about gameparks dev studio and it looked a bit like Mappy with a bit more to it.

Hmm, but it wouldn't be too bad if some REAL highlights would be sold via joygp... this way we had some more great commercial games.

BTW: Does GamePark get some license fee per commercial game sold? They have to make some money, don't they?

No something where you make the game on pc just like rpgmaker2000 and then when your done your you want to test you can "compile" your game so it works on gp32.... And if you wanted to test it out on pc it would have geepee32 or soemthing like that built in or at least set up for command lines...

We're already talking about such a thing, I think evil dragon was just talking about joyGP in general in relation to the best products coming out of this idea being good enough to go on the joygp website.

Well how about a language likje Axman says - Amos, or even Blitz basic. But with a visual front end so cock ups will be drastically reduced, and its very much drag and drop. Easy to pick up, easy to code for - a bit more advanced than an RPG maker and a little bit more usefull - but with an inital ease so that people can get into it.
