Bleh.
We still do have killer games out in the last year, like Fahrenheit and Resident Evil 4.
Fahrenheit was a godly game, for the record.

Yeah. Most 16 bit games are utter shite, with no point and no playability and no controllability.I just played the PC version of Fable... isn´t that innovative enough?
And to those who think the games were better in the 16-bit era: You only remember the greatest games from that time. 80% of all SNES or Megadrive games were CRAP compared to today´s standards, but you forgot this because of the simple fact that they WERE crap. So you just remember the best games, and guess what happens? You get nostalgic and call the 16-bit era the "Golden Days" of gaming...
One, controller won't suck anyone's ass because Nintendo design games around control whereas SquareEnix design games around storyline and EA design games around licenses. Two, there will be a plug-in type adapter for classic games that will function just like normal controllers; remember downloadable retro games that Nintendo promised for Revo? But if that controller sucks ass and i'm forced to use it and not use a normal controller, then its going to turn lots of people off to it. Forcing is not good.
Yup, here is an IGN mockupOne, controller won't suck anyone's ass because Nintendo design games around control whereas SquareEnix design games around storyline and EA design games around licenses. Those who likes Nintendo games will buy Revo, and those who wants to buy movie games will buy the other systems. It's a war between classic gaming and newly evolved movie/realistic gaming. So far, Japanese market prefered classic gaming whereas US market liked movie/realistic gaming and European market being a mixed bag.
According to sales, (Find any site that gives famitsu sales numbers) or us sales numbers, the DS is outselling every other system right now. I dunno about europe though.I also think that Nintendo, with the DS, is the only one trying to put some originality and innovaton back into the video gaming experience. The DS has the potential and the capabilities of being number one in breaking the mold of "same old thing."
I know it was a concept. Hence the Rev controller shell mockup, as i posted.Umm I think you should also mention that that picture IGN has is in no way official, it's just their best guess at what it might look like. And seeing as the PS2 is still in first place in japan it seems they like that "movie game" experience too. People like good games, they dont have to be "innovative" to be good they just have to be GOOD.
The Revo controller might offer a few new opportunities but it's not creating a new paradigm anytime soon. I don't feel the controller should be another layer of difficulty in playing a game, if that thing is not perfectly intuative for the first game you play it's going to be a problem.
