188Mhz Emulators available here

I used to have it installed, but its shareware... besides, XP is so slow i have to keep the computer almost totally bare to keep it running at a decent speed...

I am aware of the advantages of RAR.. but ZIP... so easy... built into XP...

I wish i could get 98 onto this thing.

I run win 98 but i read in magazines (non biased ones) that xp boosted performance by up to 10% or somethin in some cases. Just wonderin maybe u have a problem with ur comp?

PS i dont work 4 microsoft...

Are SnesEmu and GenEmu working for anyone?

When I try it the screen slowly wipes from left to right, but I get too scared after about 10 seconds and turn it off

I have got snes9xGP to work, but I have a feeling it is slower than the 156mhz version, I'm not sure if this is because the CPU is reverting back to a slower clockspeed to prevent damage or what

come on..... at least you know that everybody can use zipped files.... unlike rar files... my computer has "issues" with rar at the moment and zip files are so relaible and widely used... it just makes sense to provide download in zipped format. Therefor does anybody know where i can get overclocked versions of sneseme to 156 and 166mhz in zipped compression??

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I have had the exact same results as crazeeplaya reports directly above...

L O L, the Snes9X 188 mhz (supposedly) emu is was hexed wrong.

I read from offset 4:4BC4 and got 10 70 02 00, which is really 27010 ..which gives you 159,760 and I highly doubt this is even remotely correct for 188 mhz. So anyways now you all know why it runs slower ..it IS slower.

Note: but if you look at the 200 mhz version you get 00 C2 EB 0B which is really BEBC200 ..which gives you 200,000,000 so this could work on a GP32 with more RAM and possibly a different bios.

I have just gone back to zip files on the site

Does anyone know how to convert the 27h, 1h, 0h from pllset into hex for the gp32

If you look in the four blocks to the right you will see the speed, which is 00 A7 34 0B which when reversed and converted to binary gives you 188000000hz, I am not exactly sure what the 10 70 02 00 represents, but it is a number that you get from pllset

obsolete format that I can't open (mainly because I won't install yet another piece of crap onto windows XP).
 We are talking WinRar here, aren't we?

just install winrar. better than winzip/winace by far
Finally a sensible person. Not only does RAR have a better compression, it also handles ZIP files much better than WinZip itself.
or even better don't install WinZip or WinRar, just use PowerArchiver and save yourself a lot of hassle!

handles ZIP, RAR, ACE, LHZ etc.

doesn't do 7z tho (another l33t format)

works pretty much identically to WinZip, (just right click on the file), but has more useful batch options

XP is slower... it most certainly isn't faster.

I think that 10% is when you compare systems from 1998 to systems from today running XP and 98 - the system from todays world is supposidly faster.

Obviously 98 on 'todays' systems blazes way faster than XP - I know this because I have an old laptop running 98 - and its faster than my 1.xghz XP one and has half as much ram!

The reason i can't use 98 is because I only use laptops and there are odd issues with getting 98 working correctly. One day I might sit down and spend a good while trying to get it to work...there is also the issue of XP using a diffrent file system.

Oh,come on, this is an EMULATOR thread, not a file compression flame war.

Download hte games instead of flaming zip to hell.

Crazeeee! I got exactly the same slowly wiping screen and I did the same - turned it off!! Didn't quite seem right!!!

--For those of you who go to the last post first--

Fully working emulators now available at 140, 144, 150, 156, 160, 166 and untested ones at 168, 172, 180, 188

I was informed that Snes9xGP was hexed incorrectly (which it was), so I have redone it and it is now done correctly. Let me know of any other speeds that you would like to try

Get the emulators at GP32 World

i know that one of the snes 9x emus above 166mhz is working on mine. Not sure which one though becasue they are all called snes9zgp and i still use freelauncher. Aladdin seems to work quite well on it, but i am not sure if that is just wishful thinking.....

I just tested Genemu at 172 and got nothing. I did also try it at 160 because I can't run 166 and I was previously using 156. It's amazing how much difference 4Mhz can make, it almost seems like full speed on Sonic one in comparison to the 50hz pal version.

XP is slower... it most certainly isn't faster.

XP does seem to use far more resources, I've got 256MB which really is not enough for XP. Therefore Windows itself runs a bit sluggish sometimes.

But... there definately is a speed increase with a lot of software. usually only a little but one good example are the fruit machine emulators. I don't know if you've ever tried them, but on XP JPEMU easily runs about 50% - 100% faster (and its not coded for NT).

Instead of overclocking, I'd like to see someone revive the SNES9XGP for optimization. I don't want to fry my GP32, even if SNES sound is beautiful.

i'm sure that someone would want to carry out optimizations on the snes9xgp, but unfortunately the author won't release the source for various reasons......
