128mb Of Ram...

Theoretical limit.
Practical limit.

Both completely different measures, but the first is usually mentioned as it gives the more impressive results.

I isn't regular RAM, it is special mobile ram, and possibly in a special package.

+ less power
+ makes it smaller
+ very short connection paths

- Expensive
- smaller overall memory sizes.

I think that we are fine. But in the future the ram could be expanded, if there is even a real need.
But how and will require soldering? So Pandora will have a memory slot like laptops or what?

What are the power consumption differences between that mobile RAM and normal RAM? That cost difference is really justified for reducing the power consumption?

What devs think of 128mb for emulating systems with games that use really big roms Like Neo-Geo and probably CPS2 or others? Do SD will be fast enough for not having slowdown problems?

You'll need at least a BGA rework station.

Well, its that plus the fact that there's already a reference design for a OMAP3 with this type of RAM, so it makes both the hardware and software design easier, and gives you a KWS "known working solution" straight off rather than finding ram that might be compatible (and then finding out later on that its only mostly compatible). Time = Money.

There might be slight pauses in some games as they fetch memory from SD card, but we can only speculate until the hardware is complete and an emulator is actually written.

They work fine on GP2X with half as much (partly crippled?) RAM and the PSP with 1/4 the RAM, so we should be okay?

SD cards have transfer speeds from 6MB/sec all the way up to 20MB/sec, don't they?

But more importantly, they have fairly low access times.

There won't be a huge delay loading stuff off SD. Even if there is a 1ms wait here or there...that's not a huge hit. Whoever makes the emulator(s) will find a way around that.
