Why does this thing cost more than a new PS3? (serious Q)

Additionally, smaller hardware costs more money. And the screens are also quite expensive.

    Only open source?

You don't need closed source for that. Many cool games will be ported/created for the pandora. Those may not be exclusive or commercial, but a game doesn't need either to be cool.

Windows XP and Windows 7 on ARM.

I've said this before somewhere, but I doubt they'd rely on emulation. If you have a windows 7 on ARM, it'd be very easy to port windows apps as well, and so all they have to do is throw money at some people, port their own apps and then hope for the best. Still, I have my doubts about that...

Windows and Wine will never work on the pandora.

It is a different platform, even if either was ported, you would not be able to run any applications. So yeah, no windows games/programs unless they are ported by the author. edit: hey, I thought our mod permissions were fixed? I can't stick this.

Possible Windows 7 support for ARMs?

the only advantage I could see from this are MS apps like IE and windows office. But we have great alternatives to those. They'd have to come up with something better.

So you've got a HUGE battery life. How can you make it last?

I heard that li-polis and li-ions last longer if you don't wait till they're empty before charging

    Release Front Page Progress Update

That's what they were made for, no? No surprise in having those crossed, but until * Create mould of final case (can be done once the case fits, takes 30 - 35 days) is crossed off as well, I'm still kind of depressed.

    RC helicopters

Given that yours doesn't have li-ion/li-poly batteries, you could get those. Note that they're not as easy to charge, though. You'll need a security circuit.

    "Exciting news"

The journey will be over soon, relative to how far we've traveled already. Look at it this way, we have the final prototype, the final keymats, so what's left, really? CE testing and mass production. (in a nutshell) I know that their estimates keep being wrong, but the buffer for mistakes in...

    What comes in the box?

The pandora is heavily internet based. You can only order it online, even! Dare I say that anyone who has a pandora is expected to have access to an internet connection? I don't think the fact that emulators and even media players have to be downloaded is much of an issue, really. I'll probably...

    Duke Nukem Forever? Not anymore!

agreed. 3d realms seemed like a company that would be fun to work at. And it would have been great to see duke nukem forever happen. Eventually. Just like the pandora.

Possible Windows 7 support for ARMs?

for that you could also just use wine confirmed: wine runs on pandora I guess it would be for somebody who wants to write... a windows program... for the pandora? Yeah, I got nuffin'
