thx pyrat. yeah you can - just don't leave it too long otherwise the component batches i order might be too small, you'd have to wait for another production run - just have to see how it goes.
well by then they should be a lot lower-cost.... or available 2nd-hand :) also by then we should have some netbook housings / hybrid tablet-laptops like the alwaysinnovating touchbook, but i really want to do one of those with a 4:3 aspect ratio in 8.9in form-factor. that's if we can find a...
yeahyeah, no the "spare" amount is what's critical here - that has to pay for plane flights, another round of dev boards, food, and many other things. that amount's at just under $40k so far which is fine.
python assess_campaign.py
total 117175.0
after costs 99598.75
costs 59972.0

https://www.crowdsupply.com/eoma68/micro-desktop/updates/fsf-ryf-background nearing end of campaign, big update about RYF, FSF and why i've been doing what i'm doing.
because they'd be exactly the same as any other pictures you'd see of the operating system running - you could just download screenshots of any XFCE4 or Trinity Desktop. much more useful is the various videos in the updates, and especially tarrin lupo's interview
yep it's really that simple. there's a table of 8 x 16 values, you just need to go through pressing each key in turn, note the row/value that's outputted from some debug info, then use that afterwards to fill in the values, recompile and you're done.
yyyep...
i'm sure we'll be able to find you a different chicony keyboard - depending on how much time there is as well as how many other people are involved who want different keyboard layouts i might have to leave you to sort out the firmware (or at least help out with the keyboard mapping). certainly...
yeah which is really nice.
yeah if i had time i would have set up google tracking stuff... oh wait that violates people's privacy :)
no there's a graph that crowd supply can do, they keep it private until after, i'll find out what the story is at some point.
the one key defining misunderstanding of the benefits of RYF Certification is that hardware which is RYF Certified *JUST WORKS*. there's no "omg i forgot the firmware", there's no "omg i upgraded and it's now broken", there's no "omg i can't believe it's impossible to ship this device with WIFI...
hmmm... there probably exist tv-to-hdmi adapters out there...
in part, yes. but, also, it's two more things: firstly, i'm going to be *really* busy! the extra amount would allow me to train and pay somebody else to handle assembly. but secondly, it's a way for those people who want to back...
hiya folks, thought you might appreciate that i mentioned the openpandora and the pyra on the latest update, reason being that the continuation of the approach that you guys began years ago is a really good example of a self-sustaining open hardware community that has a really high technical bar...
i have a friend who knew the original designer of the processor that went into the PowerVR engine. he told me the story about it. so... third-hand... i'm sure stuff got lost in translation... and you're right: stuff gets updated...
this is very likely.. :)
i get a little oversensitive to...
frickin tell me about it. i know that Dr Stallman is deeply unimpressed with this, he calls it "SaaSS" - Service As A Software Substitute: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/who-does-that-server-really-serve.en.html - he's quite clever with words like that.
yes.
great!
5 years catching up on...
hmmm, intriguing concept... i'm not sure that Dr Stallman could be convinced that the ethical considerations behind "Freedom" could be separated from the ethical considerations behind "Privacy", on the basis that only through *having* the source code under freedom-respecting software licenses do...
thanks stan :)
it's a device that writes independently to the framebuffer, so by merely switching that off (not using it) you should be fine. of course if the desktop environment requires opengl you'll be going hooorribly slow, but again that'd be a matter of replacing the x-window server...
yehh if we could actually usefully pursue a court case without there being huge financial costs - bear in mind this would have to be in china - it would have been done already. retribution's not always what it's cracked up to be. plus, we're aware that there is a totally different culture and...
it's a good thought - we do actually have someone who's been collaborating with us to develop a hand-held EOMA68 games console because he loves the idea of upgradeability http://rhombus-tech.net/community_ideas/games_console/
i have been through the evaluation process for the OMAP5... TI...
in other words, it's about transforming something that was previously not ok through *your* positive intentions. if someone does something bad, and you can make it right by supporting someone that also wants to make it right, what would you do?
hiya askarus, thanks for replying - i answer about the peripherals in some detail in http://rhombus-tech.net/crowdsupply/#questions, "I'm missing Ethernet and SATA on EOMA68, what about power consumption?". one correction: there's 2 Micro-SD card slots (one on the computer card, one on each of...
hiya exophase - there's too much here for me to correct first before being able to move forward, which says that you've an approach in mind and have already made up your mind, therefore it really doesn't matter what i say, because if i speak up and correct the assumptions it makes me "look bad"...
