    Commercial Games

I just wanted to chip in, and appologies if this has been mentioned previously on this thread, but, as an indie game developer, I think some things that would really encourage me (and other indies) to develop games for Pandora, are.. 1. Good, clear, concise tech. documentation. 2. SDK (package...

    Getting Started

One option I'm looking at is to isolate all the platform dependent stuff from the game. I'll have different plaform specific libs I can link the game to (one for windows, one for Pandora, etc). So in theory (!) once the platform specific stuff is developed, it will be possible to develop the...

    Getting Started

I had a look on the wiki, but the getting started section looked a bit sparse! :) Just curious, what's the development environment like? Do we use GNU c++ compiler? .. is there a special build of it to produce executables for Pandora? Also, is it possible to develop on a Windows PC, and...

    Qwak On Pandora?

Totally off-topic! but ... for any Beeb fans here ... http://www.dailymotion.com/video/k4J4sEeXXVI7BiSheX ... it's an unreleased game (for the Beeb) developed by myself before Qwak BBC (like, over 20 years ago). I've teamed up with Retro Software, and we're going to release a small run on disc...

    Qwak On Pandora?

As far as the cost, for say, a download version of Qwak on Pandora, it's really difficult to say at this point (a lot is still unknown for me, esp. as to the technicalities of developing games for Pandora). I can see it being quite modest though, certainly not exceeding the cost of the current...

    Qwak On Pandora?

Thanks everyone for the responses and feedback. Sounds really encouraging so far! Yeah, the existing levels would fit a 640x480 screen; so that'd probably involve borders. As far as 800x480 goes ... I intend to release a level editor; which will allow people to create their own levels. So it...

    Qwak On Pandora?

I'm really not sure at this point. I guess it would depend a lot on anticipated number of sales; it's really too early to say, would be nice though, in a proper box with instruction manual etc. Is there a standard SD card box size for commercial Pandora games? Or would that be left to the...

    Qwak On Pandora?

Thanks Craigix! :) I also think it's the kind of game that would be a lot more suited to a handheld (rather than on say, a PC). My first thought, would be keep it at 640x480, and use a 80px border on the left and right. The UI 'fount-end' bit (players scores etc) could be quite easily changed...

    How To Protect Commercial Games?

In an ideal world, there would be no copy protection / DRM on games. Also, people should realise that game devs need to earn money from their endevours, if they want more great games to be made for their systems.

    Qwak On Pandora?

Ooooop! Sorry Orkie. :) If any mod wants to move this to a more suitable forum, that's fine. Jamie. :) I know at least one person (on the Qwak forum) has gotten Qwak running under wine. It's just needs a setting in a config file, to make it use OpenGL (rather than Direct X)...

    Qwak On Pandora?

Hi, I'm considering a port of my game, Qwak, to Pandora. There's a PC version of the game already, you can check it out here: http://www.qwak.co.uk That's some photo montage thingy I did, but there are also screenshots and a free demo on the site. I'm just trying to guage if there would be...
