Help me learn how to compile Vulture-Nethack-3.6.6?

Sounds like you're all getting closer to it - glad to see the progress!

Help me learn how to compile Vulture-Nethack-3.6.6?

Because on the Pandora, Vulture was a very low compute yet fun Nethack game that would get ~12 hours of battery life while playing. So, we had the -then- equivalent running on the Pandora - and it was pretty darn awesome. Why don't I just play the good old ASCII terminal based Nethack instead...

Help me learn how to compile Vulture-Nethack-3.6.6?

Okay, so I started digging into what it would take to get Vulture-Nethack-3.6.6 compiled to run on the Pyra. I have never compiled anything - but would like to learn the process. Vulture is an isomorphic interface / overlay for Nethack. Although the source code is distributed freely on the...

    build pyra Debian

Sounds like I didn't miss all that much then. I saw that the production shipments are going out in pretty boxes - I didn't know if there was a pretty manual to go with them. (Mine came in a cardboard box - with a nice laminated sheet.) Regarding the phone bits, I'm more interested in the 4G...

    build pyra Debian

Yeah - I did that. Are we all still on Buster or has everyone moved on to Bullseye? Care to help bring me up to speed again? Was the 3d driver ever brought into the mainline code? Are we still using F2FS? Anyone running off of a microSDXC on the internal slot these days? Is the 4G fully...

    build pyra Debian

I have been gone from this scene for longer than I care to admit. My current install on my prototype Pyra is pretty sideways - I was 'testing' a lot of weird things back then. Is there a new/updated/easier bare metal install method/setup so I can get the OS set straight? Thanks!

Brief Answers to the Big (Pyra) Questions

To clear up a bit of the above confusion. MicroUSB - the standard/normal microUSB charging cable of which most of us likely have dozens lying around can plug into EITHER the microUSB/serial charging port OR the microUSB 3.0 "wide" port. Think of the microUSB 3.0 "wide" port as a normal...

    The Future of Pyra's CPU

RISC-V is a chip for those who think Linux on Arm is not obscure enough to be cool.

    Windows 10 ARM on Pyra?

If you want to long for a historical OS to bring back from the dead as Open Source, I miss OS/2 far more than Windows XP.

It reminds me of the Pandora!

No, not really. Right now they are designing and building the process to build Pyras efficiently. Once they have the individual steps and process flow worked out and defined, then they can move much faster - maybe with more people. I.e. building the assembly line.

    Where are we now?

Pain might not be as serious as you might think. It depends a bit on what games you consider to be critical. I stopped buying any game that didn't run native on Linux many years ago. Steam on Linux eased that pain.

    Pyra Mods

The Neo2 is a full-sized keys, 10 finger touch type, keyboard. It is optimized for touch typing. The Pyra is a handheld device with a total width of approximately 6 standard touch type keyboard keys. It is optimized for thumb typing. You might want to consider using the Pyra keyboard as...

    Pyra Mods

Quite handy for controlling TVs. Think changing the channel and adjusting volume on work TVs mounted to the walls tuned to the 'official' channel, same thing in bars, etc. IRDA, at least the send side of it, was a feature of my Galaxy Note II that I abused pretty much as needed.

General issues regarding F2FS rootfs partition

I'm not going to provide links to fake cards. Just search Amazon for 1TB microSDXC. Any of the results that are not Sandisk cards and/or are being sold for under $150 are obvious fakes. Likely genuine are the cards sold by Amazon. Example of a likely genuine (no guarantee on this) card...

General issues regarding F2FS rootfs partition

It amazes me a bit how many obviously fake microSD and SD cards there are on Amazon - many with Prime free shipping where Amazon is shipping them from their own warehouse. Yes - they are someone else's stock not SOLD by Amazon, but shipped by Amazon. Of all the flaky crap that gets sold, this...

General issues regarding F2FS rootfs partition

@God Ginrai - We got the microSDXC slot built in. Having to hold a shoulder button on a handheld console to 'activate it' for booting is a very tiny price to pay to have it exist. So, ahem, quitcherbitchin. 1. If you're at the least bit concerned about retaining a set of files, make a 2nd...

    Production Pyra photos/videos/thoughts thread

Since the devs are still working on the battery control from a software side and the bits of the SoC that offload computation still being worked on, it is hard to say what battery life -will- be. What it is right now is ~8+ hours sitting on the desk with the screen on and about 2-3 hours doing...

    Production Pyra photos/videos/thoughts thread

Actually, the REAL old school way to copy and paste is: ctrl + ins = copy shift + ins = paste Which, using those shoulder buttons and the insert (ins) small button in the right game pad is REALLY easy to do. So, mapping any other button to 'paste' would be pretty darn redundant.

You mean the one generally assigned on Windows computers to use mouse scrolling? Doesn't the right nub being used for scrolling make your center mouse button irrelevant?

General issues regarding F2FS rootfs partition

You said, "when the eMMC dies" as if that is an inevitable default. The odds of the eMMC dying in 'normal use' before all of us die of old age is pretty slim.
