    Firmware V2.1.1

Well, my 2c is that I haven't seen anything yet that convinces me that it's worth updating to 2.1.1 from 2.0. As Tony says, it's rock stable. The only thing the 2.1 and 2.1.1 updates seem to have been good for is breaking stuff and creating threads about it not working. Meh.

Ni-mh 2600 Batteries Run Out To Fast????

He means, if your charger offers both a fast and a slow charge, always use the slow one. Trickle charging is the slow option. It's much better for your batteries.

How To Play Your Gp32 More.

You know what the worst is? You get comfy, power up the device and ... DOH! left the SD card in the laptop. No games. Wails of anguish from the throne room.

    Music In Homebrew Games

MOD/IT/XM ??? Wow. That takes me back. I used to live plugged into FastTracker back in the day. What are you guys using to write tunes in these formats these days? I mean, is there current software that allows you to do this, or are you running the classics in DOS emulation? If someone can...

Ni-mh 2600 Batteries Run Out To Fast????

Well, first of all, those 7dayshop batteries have a tendancy to be pants. I seem to recall reading somewhere on this forum some people saying they were okay, but in my experience, they were rubbish. They drain rather rapidly in a GP2X, but I am reliably informed by my dad (who I gave them to...

What Megadrive Game Shall I Play Now

Well, I gotta say thanks to everyone for posting here, even if it is a dupe, cos it tipped me off to some great games that were growing cobwebs in my archive. Restecp. For my part, Shining Force 1 & 2 are the bestest RPG/strategy games on the platform.

    Ac Adapter Questions

Well since you ask, I am using a set of 2700 NiMh batteries from 7dayshop, their generic brand. I don't particularly recommend the brand (or the shop, for that matter) - kinda average performance, does sort of what it says on the tin, nothing special. When not overclocking they last about four...

    Ac Adapter Questions

People, thanks for all your help and suggestions. So I'm looking for something that outputs 3.3v-3.6v at about 1A, regulated, with negative on the center pin. Sweet. I can do that. Ultimately, the reason I want one is that I've started fooling around with overclocking my GP2x. On a fresh set of...

GP2X Feasibility Of Mpeg4 Audio Decoding

Hmm. I see where you're going with this, and it is an interesting idea. However, I gotta point out that the *.mp4 format is simply a file container, similar to other file containers such as *.avi and *ogm. It is a box that contains a video and an audio stream. Therefore, even if an *.mp4 file...

    Ac Adapter Questions

Hi, First, apologies if this has been asked before. I did search but with no success. I'm not in a position to acquire an official AC adapter for my GP2X, so I plan to just buy a generic one for it. But I need to know what kind of current it should supply as I don't want to fry my unit...

A Series Of Questions Before I Spend All My Money On A Gp2x.

Well, to start with, you need to be aware that the GP2x is a homebrew sort of device. It's not a PSP or a Nintendo DS - nothing is guaranteed to work. Updates break things. If you are looking for that seamless everything-is-perfect device, the GP2x is not for you. It is, IMHO, for people who...

    Auto Gordian Knot And Subtitles

Hmm. Personally I don't like to burn subtitles into the picture because IMHO it looks bad. Also, as you might play the final video on any number of different dispays, your choice of font and size may come back and bite you. So I would go ahead and use AutoGK to code the video bit, but then use...

    Whooow!!!!

Has anyone else bought the 7dayshop card? Does it work well with the GP2x? How's the speed? I have to break in my new credit card, but I don't want to buy it if it's pants. Opinions?

    Auto Gk Screen Size

Yes, you can, but it's worth finding out if this occasional text is actually burned into the image or is in it's own subtitle track. If the latter, it's more successful to rip the subtitle track to a *.srt file using a tool like SubRip. But assuming you want to go ahead and encode all of that...

    GP2X Is Dual-screen Gaming Possible/feasible?

Well. The GP2X is runs Linux. Which uses X for display. Which, when last I checked, is certainly capable of multimonitor support by editing the relevant config files. So yes, it's possible. But I'm struggling to see a truly practical application.

Drmd V5 Beta 5 - Fixes Flickering Lines

My version is good, I played it to completion on DrMD v4.x. Your solution didn't work for me, the game just hung on the dialogue when the priest offers to save your game. Interestingly, I was still able to exit to menu and select another ROM to play. Bottoms. Does anyone have a 4.x version of...

Drmd V5 Beta 5 - Fixes Flickering Lines

Thanks for the ideas, guys, I'll definitely try those. Not sure the save-on-a-dialogue thing will work in SF, because that's where it usually hangs.

Drmd V5 Beta 5 - Fixes Flickering Lines

First of all, big thanks to Reesy for this ongoing fine work. I've just acquired a new GP2x after having mine nicked by some burberry-capped lout. So it's been a while. Last I was around, Version 4.5 was the big thing. Anyway. I'm experiencing a problem with two games, Shining Force 1 & 2...

RPGs that seem to run perfectly include: Zelda, a Link to the Past (SNESgp2x) Shining Force (DrMD) Shining Force 2 (DrMD) Ys 3 (DrMD) Ultima 7 (both parts)(Exult engine) Currently I am playing Final Fantasy VI Gold (SNESgp2x) but it's slowwwwwww but working perfectly. I've tried the hack...
