Pandora Standard Distro: Armstrong Or *ubuntu?

Some posts in this thread (and others) sound like they are telling facts, but they are not. We don't know and so we are just guessing. If things are not "facts" but just wild guesses maybe we should start with saying "I guess" or "I think" or "I suppose" or one of the thousand ways of telling...

If The Pandora Was A Car...

It's all somehow true what you're telling here, but the pandora will be more like KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) or the Batmobile Have faith, Chero.

    Kde4 On The Pandora

just for the record : it IS possible. I have KDE 3.5 running on a sharp Zaurus with far lower specs compared to the pandora. It's not very usefull, more a thing for showing off. Most KDE-apps are designed for screens with a minimum resolution of 800*600. And KDE seems to make it's own temp-files...

    Apt Repositories For Pandora

ipkg would be a better choice : it's apt based, but has the ability to install files to external media (SD). The base system with common libs and apps would live in nand, the bigger apps could be installed to SD. "ipkg-link" makes sure everything works fine when you switch SDs. It was developed...

    Apt Repositories For Pandora

I guess people should really take a look at ipkg. It has a feature ipkg-link which detects apps installed on SD and (re)creates symlinks. Running this when switching SDs can be a solution.

    Apt Repositories For Pandora

Yes, ipkg. (just google and you will see what it is) It's quite similar, but angstrom also uses a straight forward package manager, so there is no need for the user to worry about how the apps are packed. It would be nice if the pandora could use the same system. Have fun, Chero.

    Sales Boxed?

I always thought "pandora's box" was in fact a jar ... The pandora will be shipped in a bulletproof-glass box, unbreakable. The screen will be visible through the glass, there will be 2 holes in the box to access the gaming controls. When you receive it, you will have to play and win THE GAME...

    Release Enlightenment on the Pandora

Check out this thread on OESF.org : http://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?sho ... l=e17&st=0 There are screenshots in the first post as well as further on in the thread. Just showing it has already been compiled for an arm-device, so I'm pretty sure it will be possible to run it on the pandora...

How are you going to use your Pandora?

. Note taking (notecase - gournal) . Spreadsheet editing (gnumeric) . carrying my database with me (portabase) . PIM (pimlico's dates - contacts - tasks) . gaming ? (not sure, I will give it a try)

    Reauest To Port Fbreader

Now that is what I call good news ... . You could always install debian (or Angstrom-GPE or Openmoko) on your HTC ... . Runs pretty good.

    Reauest To Port Fbreader

When ubuntu will really run on the pandora as shown in the video (and an image is shared) it will be a piece of cake ... ( or available already) BTW : why trying to escape from Belgium ? It will be a beautiful country once they build a roof over it ...

    Non-gaming Apps

debian-armel or ubuntu-arm or angstrom-gpe. If one of those works (and ubuntu already does) then all the apps we want will be available (or can be compiled) For those interested : I was able to boot win98 on a zaurus sl-c1000 through dosbox. It was too slow to work with. The pandora seems to be...
