Hmm... All my hoversigns are looking a bit bouncy. also, the Icicle breaking animation needs like one extra frame to make it look right.
Photoshop doesn't have ANY animated .gif support, so when I animate, I'm working blind. I don't think I'm going to be able to go back and fix it without...
FP, that makes me cold just LOOKING at it.
BRBRBRRRR
EDIT:
We have a working graphic for the catapult now, We'll see if the animation holds up on Marko's end.
If not, It's back to the drawing board for me >_<
Thanks for the resources! I could tell you already knew most of this stuff, but it never hurts to lay out plans and show the community what I'm thinking.
Yes... I think a lower elevation would be a welcome change...
The only problem is that that would change a major factor of the gameplay: not...
If you place each level where it's average color palette sits, they're right along the standard complimentary shift. That is why they all fit so well.
Currently the biggest jump is from nighttime (2) to sunrise (3). To offset this, I think a vibrant yellow (desert) level would be pretty cool...
Well, if we can have a nighttime level in the snow, we can have a sunrise in the rockies.
For efficiency's sake as well, I don't think its a bad thing to get two levels with the graphics of one. All I have to do is tweak and recolor
ALSO
It is Carnival in The Netherlands, so Marko is taking a...
Well, I believe Marko wants to implement vertical scrolling as well as horizontal scrolling.
This would definitely make it easier to have something to 'fall into' and have it look believable.
as for the colors, I have NO IDEA. I'm just an artist, I'm new to this whole business.
I pride myself on being able to churn out quality artwork at a rapid pace.
That whole image took about 3 hours, and all the parts are separate and ready to be implemented.
I just need clouds with the right color scheme for the location and we're in business.
EDIT: added clouds and some other...
I have also been a busy little bee. Here is the tentative color palette for the next set of levels.
I WAS kind of hoping to get a bit more red into the sunrise, but that's probably not going to happen. We'll see.
It's a possibility, but because snow is more air resistant than rain, it would fall in a wind-assisted arc, and that is something I would have no idea how to recreate correctly.
If you go look at an icicle (I had one outside my window when I was making the sprites) You'll notice that they're really not transparent once they reach a certain size.
And if you look at the size of the rider on top of the bird, the size of the icicles is more than 20-30 ft.
At that size...
Character sprites are Dragon's domain, I don't really care lol.
Ah, but you would have to have an individual graphic for each number, the number of required points changes each level, and the points value changes when you kill something or retrieve an egg. The system still has to be dynamic...
INDESTRUCTO TANK?
AHhaha, man, I love that game. My younger brother showed it to me about a week ago, it's pretty fun.
I'd love to see a pandora port, but then again, if we get an efficient flash player, we'll be able to play it in its native .sfw
Yeah, I'm sure that Nick and I are keeping you busy with all of our stuff to implement.
When you get a chance, test out those rain overlays and tell me what needs to be fixed; if they end up working I want to ask Nick to make a mournful piano track with lots of white noise.
I can tell that...
That is actually a REALLY good idea.
Hold on, making broken icicle sprites.
EDIT: finished and sent them to Marko, we'll see if he likes the idea as well.
And hopefully the final version of panjoust will be a different kind of hard. A difficult hard, but not one made so by frustrating controls.
You have to also take into account that he photographed these with what was most likely an automatic light-adjusting point-and-shoot camera.
They've always been horrendous at photographing screens of any sort. Those pictures are a far cry from how the screen will actually appear in person.
The work of the pressured artist suffers.
Some Elizabethan poet (whose name I have forgotten) said it better, but simplicity always has its benefits. Don't worry about the expectations of others, yours are sufficient. I myself, can get HIGHLY critical of my own work, especially my traditional...
The very word 'app' comes close to making my ears bleed at times.
I would really appreciate something like 'The Box'
Anything to dissociate myself from the iPad toting mumbltyfucks that I know are going to start roaming the streets anytime soon.
