Surely the Megadrive version is better?!? You could also try Herzog Zwei and the Command & Conquer beta for the Megadrive for your RTS fix. Oh, and the Warcraft port.

Honestly, it's so good I had to mention it thrice.
Mine did that too and I discovered it was the battery rattling against the cover. Unscrewing the battery cover and putting a folded-up piece of paper between the two fixed it and now it feels as solid as anything.
Here's an idea: keep the Wiz and when your thumb gets better play the Megadrive version of Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker via Picodrive. Sure, it's not as good as the Amiga version but the controls are set up to use a pad.
Why not play some point 'n' click games using ScummVM in the mean time?
Mine did that too but I found it was just the battery rattling against the battery cover. Placing a little piece of folded up paper in between the two resolved the issue.
Crap, forgot to mention that the FBA emulator runs perfect too. Shame you can't reconfigure the controls in it but, other than that, the quality of the emulation is spot-on.
People are talking jazz then. I think the NES emulator has problems -- can't say for sure as I never use it -- but other than that Picodive is perfect (yes, perfect), DrPocketSNES is near-perfect with some 90% of games and OhBoy and Lemonboy have both had recent updates, as well as MAME4All, so...
I'd go for a Wiz. It's smaller, has a better screen and runs SNES games much better.
By the way, you speak of build quality... I was quite surprised to find that the Wiz is actually built quite nicely indeed. It feels solid yet sleek.
