Pandora's Emulators - What Will Work And What Won't

Yeah, the hires screen should really help with Vectrex emu. A problem with the GP32 version (besides the slow speed) was that details got lost due to the low res. I am thinking of making both a landscape and a portrait mode, not sure how well controls would work in portrait mode though. Also...

Pandora's Emulators - What Will Work And What Won't

Once I get a Pandora, I will make a port of Vecx (Vectrex emulator). The GP32 Port I did was not fullspeed, but the Pandora should handle it easily I think.

What Do You Think The Pandora Should Feature First?

I would prefer if the the first batch was sold as 'raw' as possible. Just the hardware, and a basic OS running. That way it would attract the RIGHT people - developers. I mean, with only 3000 units, you want it in the hands of: Linux enthusiasts. Demoscene people. People interested in porting...

    Preorders

I think giving a preference to developers in the preordering for the first 3000 would be a good thing. More developers = more software = more chance of it getting popular and generating interest enough for a new batch. Also I happen to be a developer... :D

Pandora This Could Run On Your Pandora

How does the functionality/fillrate/etc. of these demos compare to what we know the Pandora will be capable of? If it can run stuff like this at a reasonable framerate, it would be really nice!

    Blix32

Very nice little game. Good to see that some new stuff has been released (has been a while since I last dug my GP32 out!)

How To Get A Dev Unit.

Any info on how many MK0 dev units have found a home yet?

How To Get A Dev Unit.

Yeah, it should be mandatory for those devs that get a unit to post a bit about their progress! We want behind the scenes info dammit! ;)

Graphics Comparable Or Better Than Psp And Ds

If you are talking commercial developers as in the real established companies that produce games for DS,PSP,consoles etc. the Pandora is not even a blip on their radar, and it will most likely never be. I mean, the initial batch is 3000. Even if the Pandora sold a thousand times that (three...

Release Date - On Track ?

Yeah, anything else would be to shoot the project in the foot. To get some software ready for the "real" release, of course the beta units should go to people who actually are in a position to contribute. It might be a bit of work for the guys to manually check every application to see that it...

    Something New On Youtube

Yeah, I can understand that ignorant people will can get the wrong impression from seeing videos of early dev.tests, but I on the other hand think that they are very interesting - it's cool to see the progress from the first staggering step, so please post more! If only there was a way to keep...

A List Of Actual Planned Projects

I will be coding some demos for mine when I (if...) I get my hands on some hardware. Also (unless someone beats me to it) I will port the Vectrex emulator I did for GP32 to the Pandora.

April News - Cool Blog Update Coming Soon?

A 'normal user' having a unit would be totally pointless, since there would be no software for them to use. Good, proven developers only for the first batch is the only sensible way to go.

April News - Cool Blog Update Coming Soon?

I wonder if the devs will have full right to post about their efforts once they get their boards (which I think would be very interesting!) or if there still is any NDAs in effect?

Is The Pandora Project Really Possible?

First of all, let me say that I have not been following this project that closely until recently (I own a GP32, and was an active developer back in 2003 or so, but then I never jumped on the GP2X, so I kind of lost touch with the community), so perhaps much of the things I am about to ask has...

    New Blog On Open Pandora

Don't be afraid to post text-only technical updates to the blog! Pictures and videos are nice, but it should be much less hassle for the developers to just post a quick line or two what has been done during the day (or week). The important thing is that the blog is alive with frequent updates!

Led Blur Gp32 Demo Is Out!

Good work Optimus, nice to see a new GP32 demo, some real old classic effects!

    Gamepark At E3

Could you give some info on the 3D API of the XGP/XGP mini - will it be something like OpenGL ES or will you be using a proprietary API? Will the SDK be available for free for us hobby developers?

    Homebrew Coders Interested?

If the Mini comes out at around $150 (the $300 for the regular is a bit to much for me) and has an open SDK, I will be picking one up for sure! A handheld with open 3D API - now that would be kickass to develop for, I've got tons of stuff I'd want to try on it.

Gp2x Demo Competition: 750$ prize money

Damn, if I had owned a GP2X I would have tried to do an entry! I've done some small demoscene things for the GP32 (Minimalistic Crap + the port of the iPod demo). I also had a larger production planned but I never got around to finishing it. Speaking about Kalms - he's probably one of the most...
