    New Project: The Open2x Project.

I'm really looking forward to this, especially because I'd like to see USB master mode for HID devices, so one can plug in (via an adapter) one of those small USB keyboards (like this one). That would make the GP2X into a very nice cheap linux "laptop" (if you use the joypad as a mouse...

    New Gp2x Photos

No, I think he means the thin black plastic thing just above the USB port, touching it. At that angle it looks like some sort of card, but I think that's just the bottom part of the case, which wraps around the indentation where the USB and power sockets are located. Edit: in fact, if you look...

I suspect holding the 940 in reset and having it come out when something happens will be slow (most CPUs can take dozens of cycles to come out of reset). Much better to use the dual CPU control registers, with the 920 writing data into addresses C0003B20 - C0003B3F, the triggered interrupts in...

    GP32 [proposal] Gp2x Development Wiki

A lot of those will still be useful in a gp2x environment, because a lot of things haven't changed - we still have an ARM CPU with Thumb extensions, still need fixed point routines, etc. I think the wiki should mention Pea's page, if it doesn't already.

Agreed - stick to one or two projects at a time, at least until you get bored of them.

    Gp2x - Basic Info Faq

It also depends how you interpret it. A game will be written for 320x240, so on TV out it will be expanded up to TV res. Movies depend on what screen resolution the media player application selects. If it selects TV resolution, then the scaler hardware will shrink the movie down for LCD...

    Psp Emu

Probably... but not in a usable state :) I gutted it the day I got my first paycheck, bought a new motherboard and graphics card, but kept the case, sound card, multi-IO card and hard drives. If I scrounge around my boxes of junk I'll probably find most of it, as I find the different bits that...

You see, it's posts like this that piss me off. Your later statements in your post lead me to think that you're more misguided than criminal, but try explaining that to the legislators that use people like you as their excuse for laws like the DMCA that started out as an anti-piracy measure but...

Ditto - a nice A500 emulator would rock. A lot. Doesn't have to be perfect, as long as most 2D games before around 1993 work (Lemmings, Putty, Cannon Fodder, Syndicate...) the 12-way joypad on the gp2x should make for a very smooth emulated mouse.

    Gp2x - Basic Info Faq

Hmm, if the price of the tv-out cable is expected to be less than $10, it would be nice if the dealers allowed people who pre-ordered to update their orders to include the cable too. I hate buying stuff online that's less than about $50 because the postage usually ends up being a large part of...

Quake Already Ported To Gp2x (YES! It's true!)

... and in any case, uboot is open source, so GPH must provide the source code to any gp2x owner who asks for it. That means that any mechanism to disable booting from SD would be very easy to defeat, and the resulting BIOS would not be some reverse-engineered hack. Since the software guys at...

Quake Already Ported To Gp2x (YES! It's true!)

In other words, mmap() the MM2 register space into your process address space and go nuts on the hardware? But how do you tell the Linux device drivers that you're the one in charge now? (for interrupts, etc) or does that just not matter for the framebuffer?

Nice! Do you know if this is only for people who buy directly from GPH in Korea, or will the rest of us in Europe and the USA also get the same?

Quake Already Ported To Gp2x (YES! It's true!)

Nope, if you look closely you will see that there are nine (as opposed to fifteen) connections on the monitor socket. That means that Squidge probably has a PAL/NTSC monitor (old timers will recognize it as the kind of monitor Amigas used) hooked up to his GP2X. This picture has quite a few...

Actually, I suspect not; there was no mention in the docs of the clock being battery backed. The main function of the real-time clock is to keep time in a human-usable format (the other clocks the chip maintains are for USB, display timing, etc, which operate at very high frequencies that make...
