2 Weeks After Everyone Get Their Gp2x's

Don't bother, the new ones are not compatible (for games/demos) with the older ones unless you run UAE, and you can do that on your existing Win/Lin/Mac box.

    Powered Usb Hubs

Well, some have been speculating about plugging in keyboards and mice, for that sort of thing serial speeds are OK. Anyone thinking about plugging in a hard drive is going to have to look elsewhere though.

    Powered Usb Hubs

Sure. This is a chip that is designed to handle a large part of USB communications, making the job of people writing drivers easier. It is designed to connect to other chips in various different ways, one of which is (or should be, from comments I've read here) compatible with the signals that...

    Powered Usb Hubs

Talk about the wild wild web... last night I was looking for something totally unrelated, and I ran into the Cypress CY7C67300 - it's a chip that (among other things) takes in RS232 in the one end and does USB 2.0 (device, host and USB2Go) out the other. That means that one should be able to...

Man, you must have an ooold version of visual studio, it's had autocompletion for as long as I can remember.

GP2X Developing For Gp2x Via Windows

Oh, trust me - unix feel-alike is not at all bad. I do agree that I'd much rather have MinGW than CygWin, but that's because I prefer to have a native toolchain rather than one sitting on top of a Unix emulation layer - layers add inefficiency, and why have that when there's a perfectly good...

GP2X Developing For Gp2x Via Windows

@DJWillis: That's pretty cool stuff! I have a question... since we're going to have to link statically, wouldn't it make more sense to use newlib rather than glibc? given that glibc is a lot bigger than newlib, and most of that size difference is made of of posix functions that most gp2x...

    GP2X Gp2x Joystick Actual Facts

One further way would be to remember which of the "primary" 8 directions you have selected, and if you select one of the 8 "in between" directions next to that, you use the primary you used to have selected. This basically means you have a bias for the primary direction you currently have...

    Surprise! An Extra Button!

Yeah, I got it here... nuts. A quick scan tells me that the PWM output pins for all 4 channels are N4, N5, N2 and N1, so no joy. Mind you, it's possible that they didn't hook the backlight to the PWM on purpose because the backlight can't handle frequencies above a certain threshold that the...

    Games For The Gp2x

Un, no. I don't think you understand, there's no frame buffer. Period. You generate an image by tweaking the electron beam in real time as it scans the CRT. You do this at the same time as you're doing the logic of the game itself.

    Surprise! An Extra Button!

That's awesome!!! exactly what I was hoping for :D EDIT: Hey, here's a thought. Do you know if the IO pin is one of the ones that can be driven by the built-in pulse width modulator? by varying the duty cycle, one could implement a dimmer for the backlight.

    Surprise! An Extra Button!

Yeah, I'm curious about that too. A few people should have the final hardware by now (as opposed to the magiceyes devboard), can you guys tell us how it works?

    Surprise! An Extra Button!

My only exposure to clicky thumbsticks is the xbox controller, and in very game I've seen it used, it gets used to change the mode of the thumbstick, for example you click it once to zoom the view (the view itself is controlled by the thumbstick) and click again to zoom back out. I suspect the...

GP2X List Of Sdl Games That Needs To Be Sorted Through

Um, those look like Windows virtual keys, not SDL ones (SDL ones are normally called SDLK_whatever). If I may ask, did that code snippet come from the public header files for SDL, or from some internal one that's not exposed to consumers of the library? I ask because I'm writing some stuff in...

    Wi-fi

There's very little information out there right now, so either of these statements can be wrong. Squidge also says (earlier in this thread) that USB host won't be supported, but then he also says that the dev boards don't have working USB so that could also be incorrect. Guess we'll have to...

    Best Gp2x Movie Yet...

The D-Pad is just a set of on-off switches, so how "sensitive" it is, is 100% up to the program reading it (think keyboard repeat rate on your PC)

    Best Gp2x Movie Yet...

VERY nice!!! it really does look like the D-Pad can be pressed, just like on the XBox. I really can't wait to get my hands on one. I hope they fix the embarrassing typo before they officially release the console. I don't like listening to my tunes in ster_o (4:40 - 4:45), it seems like...
