My opinion is only use a wide screen resolution if it can be made so that if you want to use a 4:3 aspect ratio, then the image displayed will be the exact same size as the current gp2x image with just black bars on the sides. This would satisfy all parties, I would think.
However, getting an...
My opinion on PSX emulation is that it will never be full speed. From studying the hardware in the PSX and in the GP2x, it will never run full speed. However, I would not be surprised to see this emulator run 2D games with sound at playable framerates (25-30) with overclocking in only the...
FF8 stats:
The best I could get it running stably was with my Gp2x at 295mhz, and my ram overclocked per that one thread on ram overclocking. It takes a while to get to the "new game, continue game" menu, but sound works good there. When I say new game, the video loads, but even with all that...
Wow man, breathe! Like I said, "Just to throw this out there." I never said why hasn't it been done, I know there are undocumented aspects of the hardware that a certain someone has yet to reveal. That is why I didn't say "why hasn't it been done yet?"
Just letting people know that finally...
Just to throw this out there, the latest stable point version of Xbox Media Center has just been released (2.0). It is fully open source, so perhaps some code could be borrowed from there?
Obviously a straight port wouldn't work because the Xbox is quite a bit more powerful than a GP2x, was...
A floating point unit, 3D hardware acceleration, and similar processor architecture, among other finer details. N64 on Gp2x is not going to happen, and like it was said before, if it does, it would be too slow to be useful.
This sounds cool. Personally, I think it would be cool to have a USB cable for the gp2x that is like a pass through cable. What I mean is that the USB cable will plug into the gp2x ext port, and have a female ext port on it (like the gp2x), and be able to plug something like a standard tv-out...
If any of you have tried linksbox, the port of links that runs natively on the Xbox, you would probably agree that is the best way to efficiently type with a joystick and buttons. Check it out!
Yeah, I ordered one. Two weeks passed and I didn't get it. Then I emailed Craigx and he said it probably got lost in the mail. So he sent me another and I recieved it in about 4 days (I am in the US, also).
No real complaints here.
Unfortunately still no backlight brightness adjuster from GPH. We have that other thing, but it would be nice to have an official one integrated into the firmware, perhaps with a slider like the other adjuster.
Looks nice! But for some reason, the audio/video sync is off compared with the normal 2.0 firmware's movie player. BTW this is using DivX files. Also, it seems like the volume doesn't allow you to go very high compared with the normal 2.0 player (it does sound a bit nicer, though).
Possible to have an N64 emulator at playable speeds? Yes.
Likely to have an N64 emulator at even near playable speeds? Not at all.
If some coding god cared enough and went in the dark for several months, maybe that person could make something almost playable. But what are the chances of...
I have noticed this too. Everytime I try to make a savestate in the Sonic 2 level select screen (I am such a cheater :P ), I get the exact same problem.
