    Gp2x Skins

Since /usr/gp2xmenu is an executable file, it's just a matter to rewrite an app called gp2xmenu (and associated sub executables ie Ebookviewer), and replace original executable. :)

    Ebooks Yawn !

Agreed - stores bookmark.dat on NAND (should be on /mnt/sd/{booksdirectory}) - tries to load entire text file to memory (chokes on greater than 1.4 MB files) - bookmark.dat only stores info on ONE file (should store info on all ebooks in directory)...

A Question About Gp2x File Archive

Tried it yesterday, wonderful graphics. One small problem, though. Most screens that have text, ie ebook file select screen, the text is same color as background (white on white), so unreadable. Other than that quite good work . . . :) BTW: I love the way you lined the icons up vertically on...

Do You Generally Beat Most Games?

Depends on what you mean by "beat". Take Final Fantasy X, for example. In orde to get the ultimate weapon for each Player Character, you had to do some really bizarre stuff. I managed to play an entire season of blitzball to get Waka's ultimate weapon, other than that I believe they were...

Name Your Favourite/best '3d' Dungeon Romps!

Dragon Wars BardsTale 1 thru 4 Wizardry ( any but for VIII) The SSI Gold Box series of D&D Any Eye of the beholder Not first person: Dragon Warrior VII Dragon Quest VIII (both VERY stat-heavy!) Final Fantasy VII, IX, X (not X-2 or XI though) All of the above had stories that would have carried...

Firmware Upgrade Compatible Cards And Faq

Talk about bizarre. The Sandisk 1GB, which I finally got firmware 1.01 on my system with, didn't work for version 1.1.0. The Integral 1GB that I got from Craigix DID, (but didn't work for 1.0.1). Like I said, bizarre. :)

    Noatime And Read-only /

As for a faster booting kernel, my tweak has only shaved approximately one second from boot. And not consistently, either. The vast majority of the 20 seconds of boot time is spent in U-Boot space, setting up and populating the JFFS2 file system. A quick read of the U-Boot Manual and FAQ...

    Sd Card Booting

Yes it's possible (without HH) to boot from SD card. Standard U-Boot install( which GP2X is NOT) looks for several filenames on varied media. Two are reserved for alternate OS image (not flash upgrade) and instant-run hardware coded app. Scanning through the archives GPH has released, it...

    Noatime And Read-only /

Files used by GPH supplied software: /usr/gp2x/bookmark.dat /var/log/* /var/lock/* /var/spool/* /var/tmp/* and so on... While I think it's commendable that you are trying to increase the NANDs lifespan, I can't help but wonder what additional problems are going to be created. Being unable to...

    1.01 Firmware, Kingston 512mb Card

If your green loading screen says 1.0.1, you did not successfully flash. The second screen ( the one from Info), gets it's information from a file named 'version' which is copied over during the patch process. In order to successfully flash you need to see a screen with a graphic of a computer...

    A Theory On Usb Problems

@Squidge: Thank you Had tried with paramater /dev/mmcsd/disc0/part1 but never saw any indication of needing to use syntax 'file=' Are you saying those *.o driver modules are dynamically loaded as required? I am starting to get the idea that embedded linux is a far cry from linux BTW, did the...

    A Theory On Usb Problems

'modprobe g_file_storage /mnt/sd' or 'insmod g_file_storage /mnt/sd' have also tried 'modprobe g_file_storage /dev/sda' etc - same results "Invalid Argument"

    A Theory On Usb Problems

@Squidge: yes I provided the path, g_file_storage.o appears to be loaded by net2272. All attempts to load 'g_file_storage' end up with "Invalid Argument" Some inconsistencies: drivers(modular) should be lodable from /etc/modules. However, adding the line 'net2272' does nothing, manually doing...

    A Theory On Usb Problems

A quick summary of what we know so far: USB 2.0 doesn't work with provided USB cable. Drivers exist in /lib/modules/2.4.25/drivers/usb/gadget/ - g_zero.o - g_file_storage.o - gadgetfs.o - net2272.o Utility modprobe can load 'net2272', can load after net2272, gadgetfs and...

    Horrible Battery Life

@DaveC: You either didn't mention whether you had upgraded, or I missed it. I spent almost three weeks trying to upgrade the firmware, during which the best battery life I had was approximately 1 hour 45 min. Using 2200 mAh Energizer NiMH and 2500 mAh Energizer NiMH batteries. Upon using my...
