****CRAZY IDEA BELOW*****
Why not accept pre-paid credit cards via international shipping? Include a slip of paper with name and order number.
**EDIT**
How bout an extra keyboard mat or something for those who pre-ordered?
I paid via bank transfer before my refund cleared. I want that damn device and I'll pay whatever the hell I have to to get it. My bank is awesome though and did refund the int'l transfer fee. I also want a spare case and second (blank) keyboard mat. I will also do my damnedest to get another one...
I'm sure someone could add one (notice I said that already). BUT I don't have the ability to do so(notice I said that too).
Heh, they'll also be running windows. Such a shame that the device would have to deal with the kind of bloat. Sugar was such a cool idea too.
Sounds like a plan. I'm not a big fan of branching either. I mostly hope to learn a bunch about emulator programming and maybe something useful will come out of it.
The OLPC XO actually doesn't use an e-paper display. It's just has two modes, a reflective and a color mode.
An e-paper display is what's used in the Amazon Kindle and Sony E-book readers.
It would be pretty sweet to incorporate and e-paper display on top of the clamshell for things like rss...
Hahahhaha, not looking to muscle in on your territory(lol not like I could), but I just want to delve more into emulator programming and figured even if I fail miserably I should at least learn a whole bunch.
The speed increase is totally welcome, and i'm a big fan of the "open" part. Hopefully I'll get my dev environment all setup and things will get to do some hacking on gpsp.
Oh don't be a daft a-hole. I'm certainly not admitting to any wrong doing in a public form where who knows what sort of rabid lawyer from one of those worthless acronym based organizations is going to try to ruin my day. Feel free to admit to what you like but as for me, I stick out of the way...
Anything in an angstrom repo can be built.
I certainly wouldn't expect a media player pre-installed but if you lived in an area where it was legal and wanted to compile and use vlc that would be fine. Angstrom's MultiMedia repo has a good bunch of software in it.
Also we know that There will...
That's with half the processing power and ram that we'll have with the pandora. And it's hard to quantify the differences between the SGX and MBX. We've at the very least got a very strong starting position.
Very true, But afaik we didn't have any hardware proof it was playable at full speed. And now we see that we've twice the ram and required processor. If I'm totally smoking crack about that, let me know.
Aaaaanddd it's all over folks. Quake 3 is 90% done. It's already working on Nokia Omap 2420 powered handsets so a bit of pandora specific code and that should be it.
Read about the glory...
Re: gp32x.de will be back soon!
*sigh* It's not reverse engineering if you have proprietary code in it.
Zod and Co. actually reversed instead of doing a teeny bit of reversing and relying on the code that was stolen and released through less savory channels.
Fair enough on those points.

2) To my recollection, I've done a port project for OpenPlay to PowerPC, which is pretty radically different than x86. There's others, but with as much as I've done over the years, I've kind of lost track.
Well, thank heavens you at least have experience...
The "ARM issue" would be the fact that it's largely a new architecture for mainstream developers. In order for this to be a real "netbook" like device it should have the same feel/packages as a full blown linux distro. Be it fedora, ubuntu, suse, or whatever. There are a fair few libraries and...
Oh come on now, you were an Ubuntu user till at least Feb/08, don't go all harshing on it now!
But really Ubuntu has a sheet-ton of resources to be able to throw at the ARM issue. That works out great for everyone. That's the compelling reason to become an Ubuntu partner.
