I'm bit bored with gp2x not playing 3d games, so i moved on to play pc emulators and i'm really enjoying the pc emulators they are really good.
The one i'm using is different one it's called logitech dual action control pad it works with mame.
To prove it i will make a video and it will be on youtube.
If you going to use gp2x and cradle together and if you connect hard drives,wi-fi dongles etc. you need about 3v/3a for gp2x console otherwise it will malfunction this also recommened by gph.
Senior quack you are wrong, the adaptor needs to be for using hard drives 3v/3a, if you use a adaptor 3v/2a the gp2x will malfunction.
The settings for the gp2x and cradle
1)gp2x adaptor 3v/3a (I have the official adaptor it has these settings written on it).
2)gp2x cradle 5v/3a
To power up the gp2x you need 3v/1a.
To power up the cradle you need 5v/3a.
Don't set it higher or lower than these settings or your gp2x or cradle will stop working, there isn't any fault with adaptor as you said it works with other electronic items, some adaptors have removable sockets front...

Don't buy unofficial adaptor buy the gp2x adaptor they are the best if you buy the unofficial ones they are full of trouble and make sure it has 3v/1a your gba adaptor had 2a that's not right it's bit powerful for the gp2x console...
I'm 100% right senior quack about the using logitech pads they do work, it won't make any difference having full powered batteries in the gp2x or using an adaptor for the cradle the conclusion will be the same, if the control pads aren't compatible with the mame emulator how can it work,it...
When i select the syscard3.pce file it says push run button which assume is the start button i pressed that it says just a moment it stays there forever doesn't go further.
It will cost you £22.00inc.p+p, which is quite expensive but does an excellent job i had problems like that then in the end i bought the official adaptor, i tell you one thing the adaptor socket aren't very good the gp2x kepps on switching off they don't fit tight enough the official one fits...

It's no compatability issue the usb control pad you are using is not compatible with mame 5.1 emulator you need to use logitech usb pads they are one best when it comes to compatibility this pad will work.
I've read the readme it doesn't say anything, atleast he should have given more info how to install the application, oh man some developers don't use their brains.
