    I Have 1.3.0 Firmware

I think I had 1.3 when I got mine back from GP32z as well, though I don't remember for sure - I flashed to 1.4 after simply checking to see if it was running 1.4. -OCA|

    Auto-bricking Redux

I did both, actually, just before I flashed to 1.4, though I did notice some difficulties accessing some files (which is why I ran a subsequent scandisk). However, after flashing the 1.4 firmware, I did a second full format of the card, without running scandisk afterwards. When I get a chance...

    Auto-bricking Redux

@Paradox: 1.4 . I had flashed to 1.4 immediately after recieving the machine, and played with it a few times for about an hour before it died. @Goity: The card was formatted FAT32. -OCA|

    Auto-bricking Redux

After nearly three months of waiting to get a replacement, I got my new GP2x in yesterday. Within twenty four hours, it has bricked itself *again* by flashing trash onto the firmware. Just posting this as a caution to anyone else who has had this happen - my guess is it's something to do with...

    New Xgp Pictures

Am I the only one worried about the position of the power button? It looks like I'd accidentally hit it when playing. -OCA|

If Only The Sources Were Avalable....

Go play the Playstation version of Diablo - you'll find that Diablo can be plenty of fun without a mouse. I even prefer the controls in the PS version over the PC version because you don't have to stop and click to pick up items. -OCA|

    Quake Mods

http://shotgun1.shackspace.com/index.html Zerstorer: Testament of the Destroyer was my favorite Quake1 single player mod ever. A new weapon (or two), several great levels, great atmosphere, and some pretty cool gameplay tricks. It's hard as hell though =) -OCA|

    For Anyone Who Cares...

MegaMan X2 didn't use the SuperFX chip.. if memory serves, it used the C4 chip. Yoshi's Island and DooM use the SuperFX 2 chip. But there's no reason to play doom on a SNES emulator - it should be trivial to port the PC version =) -OCA|

    Firmware 1.3.0 Contents

I don't know, not sure if anyone does. I was running 1.01 firmware when it happened to mine. Some think its specific brands of SD cards combined with a firmware bug, but so far there's been no real evidence to back that up - at least, not that I've seen. It is suitably rare though - I think...

    Firmware 1.3.0 Contents

Anyone know if the auto-bricking feature ("Firmware updating" at boot when no firmware update is on the card) has been fixed in either this or a previous firmware release? I'm honestly begining to get impatiant (having waited for over a month now with no word on when I will get repair service or...

    Firmware 1.2.1 Translation

I havn't been paying enough attention - curious, has the spontanious bricking ("Firmware Updating" on boot without a firmware update on the card) issue been fixed in one of the recent firmwares? -OCA|

    Spontaneous Gp2x Bricking

Curious, has anyone who has had their unit die this way recieved a replacement or had it repaired yet? -OCA|

    Finally Have My Gp2x

I had that issue with mine. I've seen a lot of displays do that, including PDAs. It's a bit annoying but not something that I really worried about. -OCA|

    Help!!!!

Mine was a Lexar 1 gig, but I don't think its a brand thing. I updated the firmware with that card and that worked fine - used it for about 20 hours over two weeks after that update, all the way untill I was bitten by the firmware updating bug. -OCA|

    Headphones

Look for an S-Video extension cable, along with a stereo RCA extension cable. Any local electronics store should know what you're looking for by that. -OCA|

    Serial Cable

Actually, from what I hear that is inaccurate. What you need is not the serial cable, but the JTAG cable, which is not reasonably available (I say reasonably because you CAN pay $150 for one from some company whos name escapes me). Many distributors don't have their JTAG cables yet either. -OCA|

    The Joystick...

I'm getting used to the GP2x joystick now, though I think an octagonal add-on would be nice. I don't understand people's complaints about the buttons though. They feel just fine to me - I've gotten rather good at quake with movement assigned to the buttons and the joystick assigned to look/turn...

    Just Wondering

22 here. Started gaming rather late (SNES), and computer stuff even later (1995 or so, Pentium 90). I enjoy retrogaming despite this - I wish I had been around for some of that stuff (commodore 64, Amiga, BBSs, early DOS gaming). I'm looking at starting a vintage hardware collection once I get...

    Drmd Loosing Its Savestates...

I've had it happen without powering down the device. The first time, I went to save state in a game I had saved in once before, on the same slot, overwriting the save, and it simply said "failed" and locked up. This was in Phantasy Star IV The second time, I was playing Shining Force II and...

    Spontaneous Gp2x Bricking

No AVIs in the root. I had a bunch of directories, a bunch of programs, a utility program (the speaker fix thingee), a couple PNGs, a couple WADs, and four text files. -OCA|
