You're correct. I did see the newest PGS BLACK version. I can't believe that they were able to produce it within a single day after announcing the other colors.
Ahhh, Yes. I can't forget the promises of the Smach Z. Before the PGS, there was Smach talk. You will be able to play all PC games and have the power of the Sun in your really deep pocket...or huge fanny pack.
It's a combination of many factors. Tweaking the Kernal and drivers, figuring out ALL of M.Weston's work on the board(s) is necessary to getting the most out of this unit. Heat can be dissipated. The Pyra will be well-tested before most people see their units. It's just a dual core ARM CPU...
@vcoleiro1 - If you're referencing a post about the OMAP5 temp readings 2 YEARS AGO, then you needn't worry. It's a matter of working out the "kinks" and testing and retesting loads on the CPU and other areas of the board that they've built. If it needs additional cooling then I'd be surprised...
Good to hear. I was impressed that I could overclock my 1GHz Pandora to almost 1.3 and run all day with 1.2 as the preset clock speed. GC did a great job with my unit. I'd like to see the ability to overclock the Pyra when mine ships, so this is definitely good news to me.
Totally agree. Notaz is a miracle worker at times. Spotting that mis-trace on a multi-layered board can't be easy. He definitely has an eye for detail, but that's never been in question. His work is legendary. I remember seeing the accolades of his static recompile of Starcraft for the...
Excellent news! Zmatt is a godsend to this project. Getting the TILER to do the heavy lifting without needing the rotator chip will save a lot of money, resources, energy...it's sooooo beneficial. I'm so happy that we have some talented people that can make this product come to fruition...
Well thanks for the clarification, MJPIA. Still seems (to me) to be a strange partnership if the "Smach Team" is going to stay with AMD architecture, but whatever. At least you alluded to ImasD having had interest in the Smach Z product before. Maybe it will eventually get built. Not sure if...
I hear ya. I've grown up with portable game machines. In elementary school I had Mattel Baseball & football games... little blinking lights, then in my teens, the GameBoy and they just got better. The PSP was a game-changer in 2006...I hacked it with a "pandora" battery (coincidence?) and...
@vcoleiro1 - Thanks for the levity. Not sure of any discount...maybe I got one, but I didn't ask for one. I have no idea. If they're constantly pushing the limits of it? Then history is on the side of my wallet. I just trust ED and I want to see both products in my hands. If I had to...
