Time to move away from Firefox.

That’s quite sad actually about research paper paywalls. Are scientific advancements now more restricted than when Tim Berners-Lee invented the hyperlink?

Made the help screen not glitchy and with a snazzy border. Do you like? I'm considering redoing the whole thing in a midnight commander style.

    What have you bought recently?

Yes it's like a projection of Princess Leia begging for help without Princess Leia.

    What have you bought recently?

Splurged £85 on a ThinkPad x201. It's the 2010 flagship compact and one of the last models with a decent keyboard. It's a lovely machine that purrs with modern Linux. Feels like a real computer, intel i5 (4 threads), 8G ram, 256G ssd is overly adequate if i don't do VM's or IDE's. I had always...

Time to move away from Firefox.

I agree ads and cookie warnings ruined the internet. Especially forums have really obnoxious ads.

Time to move away from Firefox.

The reason you don't like ads is because they are not relevant to you because you don't submit enough reviews

https://github.com/turborat/pacmon Now if you press 'c' you enter corporate mode which aggregates network stats by corporation. You may know what Hertzner Online GmbH is pyra-handheld.com's hosting service and are wondering why it's allegedly located in Finland. I don't know if it's true but...

The idea behind pacmon is to be like top, ordering streams by (a) recent activity (aka current speed) or (b) total bytes transferred. Then update periodically eg every 3 seconds so the stats are more stable. But if you set the refresh interval to something quick like 200ms you get an interesting...

Perfect Dark finally gets the full-featured PC port it deserves

I wish them luck. The original was developed by a legendary game company at its peak just reeling off the massive surprise success of goldeneye. A bunch of super creative brits in the midlands pushing the envelope massively. Now it's being run by the office company. Good luck!

What are you playing this weekend/these days?

Wario Ware is cool. Party games ftw. I’m playing Rare games, Goldeneye 007 currently and I have Banjo Kazooi / Tootie and Conker’s bad fur day lined up. All N64.

*Sniff* they all grown up? GP32, Wiz, etc!

About once a year I charge & boot my zaurus c860, just to make sure it still works. I'll fire up snes9x for a second, just to be sure. It's a perfectly preserved old-skool linux system, customized up the wazoo of course. Makes me feel warm & fuzzy.

I rewrote my stream oriented network monitor pacmon in rust. It shows you which corporations and countries your processes are communicating with along with other stats. Check it out. Your data might be going to Pyongyang (like mine was) https://github.com/turborat/pacmon

    War in Ukraine

They always say this yet never push the button. Putin is chicken. He knows America can be bitterly vindictive and gets people like Noriega, Hussein, Bin Laden, Hamas (ffs), etc. If Putin kills Americans he will never sleep well again. Also, Russian nuclear bombs don't work (my sources tell me)...
