    GP2X Development In Ubuntu

Install the 'build-essential' package, then download the open2x toolchain. Run the setup script (not as root, as user please), and wait an hour or two. You should then have a working toolchain :)

    Rather Insane Gpsp Resizing Idea...

I think he means the 'smooth' scaling vs the 'blocky' scaling. The MP2520F manual seems to indicate some way to use the smooth scaling on RGB surfaces but so far I think we only know how to do it on YUV surfaces (which is what the movie player uses)

Gp2x W Firmware 3.0 Will Not Get Past Boot Screen

It should only take a minute or so. It sounds like your GP2X may be defective, unless someone can give better advice you might want to look into exchanging it for a new one.

I Just Finished Final Fantasy Vii (again) On My Psp...

^^ Oh you can play it, if you don't mind playing at somewhere between one-third and one-half speed the whole way through

    Just A Few Support Questions...

SDHC cards should be supported in an upcoming release of the Open2X firmware, so they aren't supported yet but they will be soon(ish). As for movies, all I can say is you have to be sure they are encoded as XVid or DivX for the video track and MP3 as the audio track. Looking around the forums...

Gp2x W Firmware 3.0 Will Not Get Past Boot Screen

It only happens once in a while? Sounds like your batteries may not be powerful enough to get through the boot process. 1300MaH is not very high capacity, and if their charge capacity has been reduced through use and stuff they might not be powerful enough to boot the GP2X. I would recommend...

    What About Open2x?

Kaillera is something that would have to be implemented on individual emulators.

I Just Finished Final Fantasy Vii (again) On My Psp...

I'm (slowly and have been stalled for a while) playing through III/VI again on PocketSnes... I'm now convinced it's better than VII. But heh :)

    Ext Charger

Well it looks like that particular game is not in the .34 or .35 rom lists, so it seems it might not work, but I could very well be wrong... any one actually want to try loading the game? I don't have MAME loaded right now and don't want to mess with the structure of my SD card right now (dev...

    Benefits Of 3.0 Firmware?

It isn't unofficial... the dump on the archive is an unofficial dump, it hasn't been released 'officially' as a upgrade file yet. As far as battery life and overall stability, Firmware 2.1.1 is at least as good (and some people claim better in stability). I use 2.1.1 because the boot time is...

"Hacked" games? Do you have any idea what you are talking about? I'm sure MAME/GP2X is capable of your quiz game, which one is it?

    GP2X Ftp->sd Card Needs Chmod +x

Yup, that happens with all FTP programs, you can also chmod it from the FTP client if you want. I use samba to dev now, I like it a lot better.

    Full Speed N64 Emulation!

I know VHDL (err, actually verilog I guess, but I hear it isn't too much different), and I think it's really fun, and I'd love to get myself a FPGA board to play around with. But I don't think it would be practical on a handheld.

    Ext Charger

I don't understand any of the above posts. But yeah, applying power to the EXT port is not a good idea, since I get the idea that you might have tried that. If your GP2X still works, consider it a lesson learned and don't do it again and you'll be fine :)
