I generated a new image with the openbox stuff in it and a networkmanager that should have been compiled with the "--without-ck" flag. openbox seems to work fine,  but networkmanager still seems to have problems. edit: tried it with the xfce gui, and nm works there.. could be because of some...

That problem is already sort of fixed. Option 1 is what the current image uses. Although the way things work, you won't actually see any change unless you do a clean install of that. (or change some files manually) The other options do sound a lot cleaner, so i'll give those a try.

Great, I didn't really dig too deep into it, usually when you get libtool complaints it means hours and hours of fun patching up a recipe. I did try the gksu-polkit version, but the latest version uses vala, and needs newer versions of a lot of stuff. So i didn't bother with that either after...

I'll dump those changes in there tomorow, would be nice if that was all that's required to get networkmanager going properly. After that it's only the gpu stuff really, although that shouldn't be that hard either if its just a config file and using the fb versions. Running pnds does still have...

gksu is a bit of a problem, there is no recipe for it, and the one i quickly threw together fails on weird stuff. Doesn't help that gksu does things the hard way, having to build a gksu library, and then the executable that calls it.

    XFCE configuration for .next

A recipe for openbox exists, so I built and uploaded that in case anyone wants to try anything with it.

Exactly.. and if you do want to discuss this sort of stuff, please open a new topic for it. This one should be only for stuff that fails completely, not endless discussions about whether an icon should be on the left or the right side of the screen.

Nothing major, I just borrowed some patches from the arch PKGBUILD and things worked fine after that. An opkg upgrade should install it.

doesn't look like there's a python3 recipe, so it looks like python 2.7.3 is as good as it gets from the default openembedded packages. gtk+3 3.2.3 is there. A pygame recipe doesn't seem to exist, and the old one requires a bit of patching to get going. I'll try to get that going tonight...

The screen going blank is the screensaver kicking in when the time and date is set. The panel settings (and other xfce settings like the fonts) still needs to be done. The old pandora settings are for xfce4.6, so they'll need a bit of work to fully work with 4.10 There are a few other pnds...

added the systemd verion of the state stuff,  an opkg upgrade should take care of it

I started with a completely empty image and added stuff when i needed it. I just didn't get to the point yet where i needed a gui text editor :)

Just dump everything in here. It's a lot less work to use than some bugtracker that requires signing up for. And a bit of extra activity in this section probably doesn't hurt either :)

the proper way would be to rewrite everything using systemd scripts :)

The /dev/input thing was easily fixed with a new udev rule. An "opkg update; opkg upgrade" should install the new package and fix things. I'll take a look at the rest later today. We'll probably need some small compatibility package to handle a few of the most common lib problems.

Still a long way to go though, but it's now mostly small stuff that doesn't require in depth knowledge of oe. Unfortunately it's quite a lot of small stuff :) And you always run into things that at first look like they're quite easy to fix, but end up taking forever. gksu is a nice example...

Only difference is the compression method, the other two are just symlink to the same file, just with a shorter filename. The rest of the files in there are various bootloader and kernel bits, none of which are needed to run the image from sd. It should be compatible with the...
