    And Except Linux?

Don't forget Palm are going over to Linux. And bear in mind: Nobody really wants SDIO on a laptop or desktop as much as they do on a palm PC. And Linux hasn't been all that big on handhelds up to now. Drivers are written when people need & want them, and up till now, they haven't really wanted...

Doesn Craig Replay To Your Email?

Hmmm. . . let's see. . . "Compared to the GP32, will the GP2X deliver increased pleasure through improved performance?" "Do I get loads of free software with my GP2X?" "I hate it when my handhelds run out of power. Where can I get better-performing batteries so I can keep it up for longer?" :)

New Site > Gp2x Vs Psp

If anyone's interested, I wrote a blog entry on why, for me personally, the GP2X is the best buy, as opposed to a PSP or iPod: http://linux.oneandoneis2.org/blog/2005/10...eld-choice.html It also has a small blurb on what it'd be nice to see on the next GP version. Yes, I'm bored ;)

Where Did You Here About Gp2x?

I vaguely noticed a few references to the GP32 on Slashdot, but only really found out about it when it featured in a magazine I get occasionally, MicroMart. Decided I couldn't wait until the GP2X came out, and picked up a GP32 to tide me over :)

    Customisation

When I've got my WM of choice (FVWM) running on my desktop PC, my total RAM usage sits at around 20MB - and that's with a rather higher res than the GP2X can cope with ;) So I'm pretty much certain that we'll see a few WMs ported across. Probably getting X11 itself over will be the bigger...

    Gpx2 Launch Date ??

So. . . the smaller first batch that my preorder will come from will be of a much higher quality than the mass-produced second run, right? :)

New Site > Gp2x Vs Psp

Heh - maybe the GP3 will have a bunch of FPGAs that can be set to do whatever job you like, rather than specific processors doing specific jobs. Nothing else will silence the "I'd have preferred X processor arrangement to the Y setup they've gone with" ;)

    Best Gp2x Movie Yet...

It's not the fastest 'boot up' I've ever seen. I wonder if "Suspend to disk" could be ported across? That should speed it up! :o) Pity they didn't show the TV-out in action. . .

    Rip Dvd's

dvd::rip is what I use: http://www.exit1.org/dvdrip Does Xvid, DivX, ffmpeg, and others! You could use mencoder, which is developed by the same people that do mplayer, which the GP2X's movie player is based on, but it's all done via the command line. I prefer the GUI of dvd::rip myself tho

    What Filesystems?

I've not seen it mentioned on any FAQs - does anybody know what file formats we'll be able to use on the SD cards out of the box? Will we be stuck with FAT again? Or will the stock kernel have support for some decent Linux filesystems?

    What's This??? A Gp2x Clone....???

Is this in any way related to the rubbish that was being peddled by a Slashdot troll when the GP2X ws announced last month? http://hardware.slashdot.org/comments.pl?s...ort=1&op=Change

A Quick Blog Entry About Gp2x Performance..

If building something directly into the kernel bothers you, you can compile it as a module that can be loaded & unloaded as needed. . .

    Gp2x Newsletter

Can't help so much with the technical parts, but writing is a hobby of mine, so I'd be happy to contribute to a newsletter if there were one!

    Worst Things About The Gp32?

The only things I dislike are the 128MB-limit on the cards, and the fact I still can't rip a DVD to a movie file that GPCinema will play :(

    Psp Emu

Never played them. TBH, I was so disappointed with the GBA I wasn't willing to part with enough cash to have much of a games collection for it. . .

    Psp Emu

I'm not really wowed by the PSP screen - actually, I'm considerably more impressed by the GP32's - I really hope that the GP2X will be at least as good as my BLU. . But compared to my GBA, just about every other handheld screen I've ever seen has been amazing. My Palm; my GP32; heck, even my...

    Psp Emu

Having seen the screen of a PSP, and being the proud owner of an original GBA which I can only play in bright sunshine & sitting at the right angle, I can't say I blame any GBA owners who want to be able to play their games on their PSPs ;)

Is The Gp2x Gonna Be Here Oct

Or, since dual-booting is a time-honored Linux tradition, how about a firmware upgrade that leaves the boot-loader completely alone and allows you to boot from the SD card if necessary? A working bootloader (only needs ~100K) living on the firmware & a full OS on the SD card and you'd be ready...
