    Can You Add New Hardware

Actually, I had an idea that went further even than that: Get a Linux-supported webcam (there's lots) Follow the instructions on http://www.hoagieshouse.com/IR/ to convert the webcam to view IR (Possibly buy an IR light source) Enjoy playing around with your GP2X night vision kit :) I might...

    Can You Add New Hardware

Is there a list somewhere of just what support the GP2X kernel has built-in..?

    Can You Add New Hardware

Hmmm... here's a thought: If you got the GP2X onto a network, and got X11 running on it, could you run a remote virtualized version of windows on the GP2X? i.e. Windows would be running on VMware/qemu/whatever on a full-size PC, but in a window displayed remotely on the GP2X. Hmmm. . .

If it were a USB hard drive, yes

    Can You Add New Hardware

Hard-drives can be supported via a BoB or a simple EXT->USB adaptor. It plays MP3s out of the box.

    Jtag Breakout Board Help

No, GP2Xrecovery restores U-boot from the SD card - that's how it works. Hummm... is there anything on the SD card but Uboot, Axe? And are you waiting the appropriate lengths of time at each step, and holding down the right buttons etc?

    Gp2x Interlaced Screen

Organic vision is a very complicated thing. It doesn't take much of a FPS for us to perceive flowing rather than jerky movement. But the length of time, eg, a flash of light has to last for us to see it is very, very small. And then you've got different parts of the eye working differently...

    Jtag Breakout Board Help

O-kay, well, GP2x Recovery seems to be working properly. Is that serial output what you're seeing when you're flashing, or what you see when rebooting afterwards? And what happens when you do power up afterwards? Whitescreen? A logo?

Break Out Box And External Hdd

Well, there's the problem: It can't read the partition table. You know, I seem to recall people having problems with this in the past, because they didn't actually partition the drive, just formatted the raw device, so you had to mount "/dev/sda" instead of "/dev/sda1" Try partitioning &...

    Gp32 On Gp2x

The GP32 is nowhere *near* as good at movies as the GP2X - it's a total goit to transcode for, and it struggles to cope with playback. It's pretty good for music tho, in a simple way.. It's good for a lot of games, of course

    Guide To Unbricking

Since I seem not to be the only one who's had problems with unbricking, I figured I'd try & get a comprehensive guide to doing it in place. http://linux.oneandoneis2.org/GP2X/unbrick.htm Any feedback on how to improve it would be appreciated, particularly if they increase a user's chances of...

GP2XRecovery always gives a "Success" message at the end, even if it fails. Run it again, and post the full output here.

    Jtag Breakout Board Help

Firstly: Does your parallel cable have all 25 pins wired up? They often don't if they're sold as "Printer cables" or some such. . . Secondly: Did you plug the BoB in & power it up before booting your PC? If you didn't, Windows will probably have decided to ignore the parallel port at bootup...

Break Out Box And External Hdd

Nah, USB hard drives just need SCSI and USB support - same as USB flash drives. If a Linux machine can read a USB flash drive, it can read a USB hard drive. Hardware manufacturers always miss Linux off their list of supported OSes. . .

    Gp2x Upgrade Petition Idea

Nah. Get 'em to replace the second CPU with a FPGA instead, then it could be configured to suit whatever task the game requires :) Seriously: If you want 3D graphics, more RAM and built-in storage, you really don't want a GP2X at all. Can't see it happening. . .

Break Out Box And External Hdd

Does the BoB supply enough power to run the HD? I know my USB CD-ROM drained so much power that the BoB couldn't even keep the LED lit. . . If your HD came with a mains power adaptor, try plugging that in & see if it helps

What do you have on the card? The instructions just say to have Uboot, but I found it best to have the complete firmware available on it - kernel & all. Oh, and if you don't hold down the buttons the first time after you boot, you need to reflash - you only appear to get one shot at getting it...

    Promoting The Gp2x Further...

I vote to start with a mascot: That's what Linux did with Tux the penguin, and then along came SuperTux, Tux Racer, TuxKart, and so on & so forth. . . I think a mascot who's visible pixellated would be good: It'd suggest the old 8-bit games that we all like playing on the GP2X, and you could...
