    Will Linux Ubuntu be preloaded?

If I have the choice (read: If we have a real x server), I will definitely use XFCE. I heavily prefer it to the *boxes, which are the other major option being suggested here. I agree that it would be a very good idea to start with a server install of ubuntu (or debian, it doesn't matter to me)...

Anyway to emulate or closely emulate a pandora?

If you really wanted to develop for the pandora and wanted to test the hardware before November, you could consider buying a beagle board. My school's electronics lab bought some, and I must say they're pretty cool. It's based on virtually the same hardware as the pandora, you see.

The "how Many Have Been Sold?" Thread

I had the same problem with my card being declined. The company called and it seems like they thought it was stolen because the charges were in another country.

    Did You Preorder?

I only just preordered now. I was checking gbax all day, looking to see if it was sold out, but I couldn't buy it because I couldn't do a paypal transaction during class. I was so afraid that I would miss it, and when my first credit card was rejected over and over, I started to get worried...

    Where To Preorder Besides Gbax.com?

Ack! I have to pre-order from in class! I hope they don't block online purchases... I don't know if it's safe to use an anonymous proxy for that, so I might have to set up my own...

Anyone Else Get The Preorder Email Yet?

ELSE!!! You mean to say you got one!?!?!?

Megadrive On Pandora: Sound And Working Usb Joypad!

Very nice. The audio sounds as perfect as the real thing! Also very nice to see Virtua Racing getting some love (look at my avatar-- that's the 32x version though). Speaking of which, I can see this emulates the special chips for VR properly, but does it support 32x emulation like many PC...

    What About Saturn Emulation?

Ugh, I just realized how stupid I sounded. I don't expect anything more than the Yabause port for the wii. Let's leave it at that. Actaully, I'm not sure how much it matters, but the Yabause team has asked that people contribute to their trunk rather than make their own independent forks. Like I...

    What About Saturn Emulation?

Thanks for the analysis, Exophase, but I think this discussion is pointless. Arguing that we shouldn't port a perfectly good open source saturn emu because the playstation was better is like saying "why bother with a SNES emulator? The gamecube was so much more powerful!" I for one just want to...

    What Aplications That Will Work?

I think the pandora is right on the threshold between where I use OO and where I settle for Abiword/gnumeric. On old pentium I's and II's, sure, I'll use the less demanding stuff, but here, I feel like there is plenty of power at our disposal that we might as well use. If I had the choice, I'd...

    Pre-orders, One Week Away!

This is an excellent way to get a thread locked. If there were a textbook on this stuff, this discussion would be in it. Not that I care.

    Pre-orders, One Week Away!

Yes. Unfortunately, the information flow seems to have slowed down. The calm before the storm, perhaps?

    What About Saturn Emulation?

I'm starting to believe this whole conversation is moot, as the only FOSS, portable saturn emulator is Yabause, and it's not that great even on the PC version. There's already been some discussion over on their forums about a pandora port, and the official response from the team is, "What can...

    What Will Os Be Like?

Saying that a CLI looks like DOS isn't the worst I've heard. At least it's true, to a certain extent. I mean, If someone said that IceWM looks like WinXP, they wouldn't be far off either, so I think the statements equate. What I hate is when people see a command line and think I'm looking at...

Top 20 Games For Each System

This site: http://www.videogamecritic.net/ is really great for getting reviews of both pre and post NES systems. You can sort the games by grade to get the best ones right away, and the best part is it usually has reviews for a good portion (50% in many cases) of all the games made for a given...

    What About Saturn Emulation?

The Saturn happens to be one of my favorite video game consoles ever (although one of the reasons I like it is for its obscurity). The best emulator (on windows) I know is called Satourne, although there are some other popular ones too. The only open source, cross platform Saturn emu I know...

    Pandora, Looking Good!

I am also bothered by the delays (I'm starting to look silly in front of all the people I told the pandora would be out by now), although it's not like I blame anybody. I mean, there will always be improvements and such, so I don't expect this to be some sort of super device that will never...

Will It Support Two Usb Joysticks?

USB-OTG doesn't mean powered or unpowered. It means it can be a host or a peripheral. I've used USB-OTG devices before, and with an usb mini to usb adapter, it was able to provide 100mw (less than the 500mw usb is supposed to provide).

    Sdhc Speed

I'd like to get a simple right angle adapter so I can lay a nice big flash drive flush with the back of the pandora to use as extra storage of swap space. Maybe I'll have to settle with strapping a 2.5 inch usb hdd to the bottom instead...

    Pre-ordering

Glad to hear Craig & Co. are working on software. I was starting to worry that they were neglecting that aspect. I mean, sure, lotsa emulators are already working, but I'd like to see even a simple CLI, or some other types of programs running, like a web browser.
