If you want old news, I do have a video of the prototype booting PyraOS. (and doing the screen rotation without the chip)

Gamescom, sensor upgrade and other nice news

You can find a rootfs with just about everything in it here: http://packages.pyra-handheld.com/images/extra/pyra-rootfs.img.xz Download, extract, and dump it onto an 8GB or larger sd card ( same as you'd do for a rpi image ) It's based half on hns's makesd, half on my rootfs, and a bit of...

i think u-boot just dumps its settings to the emmc even if there's no partitions there. You must have done a saveenv somewhere.

It's still trying to load omap5-pyra.dtb. It should not be doing that at all, u-boot.img doesn't even have that string in it. I have no idea where it's getting that from. Unless you either changed it yourself, have some *.scr file somewhere that sets it back to omap5-pyra.dtb, or some saved...

Looks like i mixed up the MLO and u-boot.img from different versions. Another problem is that it seems to load MLO from the sd card, but then loads the u-boot from the emmc. I'll wipe my emmc, rebuild u-boot, rebuild the image , and see if i can get something working. It should also be trying...

At least for me, bluetooth keyboards have always been a lot of trouble to get going. I mostly tested the bluetooth stuff with various bluetooth speakers, and those work pretty much out of the box. So at least that part of bluetooth works. It could be that input devices need more permissions, or...

At least i can replicate the perl thing here now.. it requires slightly more work than just doing and apt-get update/upgrade (had to do the --reinstall with libmodule-build-perl). I did see it once before, but that was months ago, and just thought it was something to do with the packages on the...

The way booting is currently set up (if you use the u-boot from install-pyra.tar.xz at least), is that it looks through all attached devices for boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf , which contains the details on which kernel to use and the kernel command line. It also shows a menu on the serial console...

I've been mostly messing about with the pyra-mate image, the xfce stuff is a bit behind. I've also been a bit lazy about pushing stuff to the git repo and the site, a lot of stuff has been fixed already. It doesn't help that with all the dead devboards around i've been getting no feedback...

Which script do you mean. There are a few, one that gets run right after multistrap has finished downloading and extracting the packages, which sets up a few things the next stage expects to be there. The next one has to run on arm hardware to configure all the packages. If the rootfs is beeing...

Image building is done completely automated using multistrap. Configuring is left to the package manager as much as possible, although some things have to be set up using external scripts (mostly stuff that normally gets done by the debian installer)...

    OMAP5432 at home !

linux-omap-4.3.0-rc5 is the kernel from the linux-omap tree, compiled with omap2plus_defconfig. it works on the both boards, but has a problem on both of them with the audio, so pulseaudio locks up, and any program trying to open an audio device locks up as well. gta-4.3.0-w is the hns...

    Pyra first Run Wizard

Those firewall settings are only for incoming traffic. You can just about ignore everything you see there, since it should all be replaced by a more polished version for the first release. It's all just the most basic versions of the steps a first-run-wizard needs to do.  And half the...

    Pyra first Run Wizard

The first-run-wizard in the current image is just a placeholder until the real one is done. Half of it is just a copy/paste of the pandora one, and the other half is using dpkg-reconfigure. Unfortunately I haven't seen much progress on the first-run-wizard that B-ZaR and Christoph.Krn are doing.

It does need a lot of small tweaks to work properly on pandora, so I wouldn't really recommend it to everyone. The touchscreen should work automatically, all you need is the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ files from http://next.openpandora.org/pyra-rootfs-pnd.tgz in place for the calibration (and it...

you don't need the nub firmware. you only have to put it in the right mode. http://pandorawiki.org/Nubs#Nub_Configuration to get the normal pandora defaults : echo mouse > /proc/pandora/nub0/mode echo mbuttons > /proc/pandora/nub1/mode

Booting the Pyra : unifying the efforts.

The bq27425 doesn't show up because it's not on the board, it's part of the battery charger stuff. The cpu temp sensor only showed up in the 3.8 TI kernel, so it's either a module that needs to be enabled, or it's just another case of things disappearing from the dtb.
