We can get 1Ghz unit but still no cellphone!?! AHH!

And yet somehow you seem to think that the skinny jeans are the smaller part of that problem? :)

We can get 1Ghz unit but still no cellphone!?! AHH!

One: It's not "overwhelming demand" that made this happen. It's "the old CPU will sooner or later go out of print, so they need to start experimenting with the replacement." Two: A pandora is quite a bit thicker than most phones. Can you fit even one device in your pockets if that device is a...

    Where is My Pandora?

Nope, you got delayed. After expensive hiccups, we've now reached the unpleasant situation where production is running OK, but people ordering a system just now get it fairly quickly because the higher price they pay goes into subsidising your and my older and cheaper orders (mine's from April...

    Open Pandora in Aluminum case?

Probably true. But then, for most people today spending £400+ on a tablet, the starting point will have been "I want a tablet" rather than "I want to spend £400+". I don't see how this counts as competition for something that isn't by the remotest definition a tablet.

    Release 1Ghz boards. Fancy one?

Probably, yes. My "problem" is simply that you don't put a price on not-having-an-old-pandora-any-more in the version where you sell it, but you do put that price on it when you hand it back to OP. Let me try again: Think of selling your pandora as a zero-sum game. You receive 250$, but you...

    Release 1Ghz boards. Fancy one?

My point is that this calculation (saying the new pandora would cost you only 450$) implies your old pandora is worth nothing. If that is true, then you can't suddenly value it at ~300$ in the second calculation -- if 500 plus a pandora makes 800, then 450 plus a pandora should make 750.

    Release 1Ghz boards. Fancy one?

Your question is a good one, but your calculation makes no sense. One thing your two scenarios have in common is that you would no longer have your old pandora. You can't ignore the value of the old device in your first calculation but still add it on to the total price in the second. In the...

UK ordering available again for new units

Hi Ben, welcome. Here's the basic situation: When you and I preordered our Pandorae, the Openpandora team was underestimating the amount of shit which could happen during the manufacturing phase, and the amount of time and money this would cost them. Many delays and supplier fails later...

Pictures of the Prizes - and Voting!

I'm not at all involved with the competition, but my guess is that the guideline has to be "rate whichever version you used". The judges are volunteers with limited time on their hands. You can't really demand that they must keep up with the devs' post-submission updates, particularly for...

Pencil-and-Paper RPGs - Anyone here play them?

In most cases these are games you don't play to win. Players cooperate, trying to succeed as a group. (Paranoia would be a counterexample here -- characters have a common goal on the face of it, but spend most of their time sabotaging one another. Of course the players still have the common goal...

Should the Pandora 2 be called 'Pandora 2'?

If you're going to use that line of argument, then clearly the next model must be the Pandora 11.
