    The current situation

We've begun to dive into the usual swamp already, but please note that as I read it, torpor's post (#109 in this thread) isn't about dealing with people who are already waiting for merch they've bought from Craig. It's about making a better impression on people who are new to this whole story...

Repo rating system: 5 stars or binary ratings?

I think you're just more likely to get ratings from people who strongly like or strongly dislike something. A points-out-of-five rating scheme is fine for professional reviewers whose job it is to express an opinion on whatever they're assigned, even if it's kind of meh. With volunteer raters...

    Crossfeed

Huh ... OK, my one application for crossfeed is to listen to hard-panned recordings through headphones without developing a headache. Why do you need crossfeed on emulators and games? Adding software crossfeed into the system-level mixer software might be quite feasible, actually. What kind of...

Should repo uploaders be allowed to delete their contributions at will?

_wb_, I think that's exactly the big disconnect here. While you focus your arguments on what's desirable, most other participants in this discussion are talking about what is legally, technically or otherwise possible. Look at the situation from the other side. If someone's written and...

    Crossfeed

Can I just get some clarification here: You'd want a couple of mixers added to the analog stages of the audio hardware? I don't think that would be a use of space, money and design effort which justifies the result. The pandora, current or 2, can perform crossfeed in software, on the digital...

Should repo uploaders be allowed to delete their contributions at will?

That's an interesting one. My understanding (but IANAL and feel like I'm beginning to get out of my depth here) is that you could do that without getting into legal trouble, but only because all the code is your own work. See http://www.gnu.org/l...eveloperViolate for the FSF's statement on...

Should repo uploaders be allowed to delete their contributions at will?

Wrong again :) It's probably exactly what you meant; but what you said seems misunderstandable. The part I did misunderstand is the one where you write "I can't control copies that others may have downloaded". This sounds a bit like "I can't prevent people who have a copy from doing things...

Should repo uploaders be allowed to delete their contributions at will?

My point of view is that there are copyright laws, and it'd be a good idea to comply with them. "The repo" needs an author's permission to redistribute that author's work.

Should repo uploaders be allowed to delete their contributions at will?

Aaaactually, wrong: You can't revoke the GPL. Quoting section 2 of the GPL (version 3): "All rights granted under this License are granted for the term of copyright on the Program, and are irrevocable provided the stated conditions are met." So you can stop distributing your code under the...

Still no tablet? Then why bother?

Could you try again, but make sense this time? Of course linux is a means to an end. Every OS is. If your only reason to use linux is because FREEDOM!!!!eleventyone!!, then the pandora can do that for you. In fact, if that's all you want, you don't even need the tiny screen and keyboard: a...

    Snowman

Water drops are a good idea, actually. Rain will finish off a snowman far quicker than mere warm air.

Since you seem to be using the traditional carrot-nosed snowman, an enemy bunny seems quite appropriate.

    Gaming Habits of Pandora Users

I've sunk a lot of time into Borderlands. I also game in waves though: right now I'm near the low end of the spectrum, playing nothing more complex or time-consuming than the odd puzzle from the Tatham collection. But it's definitely time (and the appropriate weather) to get a boardgames night...
