They Don't Call It The Interweb For Nothing

Ah... it begins to come back to me! I saw a documentory on TV about whether chimps should be given basic human rights. An animal rights campaigner said that chimps were 99% genetically the same as humans so should be given 99% of the rights we as humans expect. This argument was countered by a...

They Don't Call It The Interweb For Nothing

I heard that we are actually about 70% genetically similar to bananas... I'm going to give Fahreheit 911 a miss because I heard it laid it on even more thickly than Bowling For Columbine. Moore really has gone downhill since TV Nation :( The info about DERA actually came from the horses...

They Don't Call It The Interweb For Nothing

Bush is a business associate of Osama Bin Laden's brother. They are both major shareholders in the same research company and if memory serves the research company in question is DERA. Who is DERA? Have a look here: http://www.mod.uk/business/ppp/dera/dera_ppp.htm Really is a small world eh...

    Jobs In The Gaming Industry

I worked at a games company for a bit and on the few occasions that the programmers emerged from their lair they seemed to have a 'Village of the Damned' look about them. Meanwhile most of the marketing department moved around the office on skateboards (and generally deserved the hatred that was...

Official Portable Famicom == Gp32 Ripoff?

Quite... but obviously someone at Atari thought it was a good idea ;) Maybe it was the same person that thought putting the cartridge slot directly behind the reflector for the backlight was a good idea. As anyone who has ever opened a Lynx II up will know, that console was mostly empty air...

    Future Drmd Release?

Sega Genesis screen resolution = 320 x 224 pixels GP32 screen resolution = 320 x 240 pixels 16 pixel difference means that you have 8 pixels of black at the top and bottom of the screen. It's possible to stretch the display to fit but it would take a bit of the processing power away from more...

New To Gp32. Lots Of Questions

I've generally found SNES emu on OS9XGP to be pretty damn good! Running at 166mhz the speed seems fine WITH sound on many games. Genesis emu is pretty damn good too (and getting better all the time). Most of the 8-bit machine emus are damn fine and there are plenty of good homebrew games...

Official Portable Famicom == Gp32 Ripoff?

You could indeed turn the Lynx upside down. The manual said it was so the system could be used by "Lefties" - presumably left-handed people, not liberal minded people. It also meant that it worked very well when played vertically too and because the screen was kind of widescreen, games like...

Blueangelo : Send A Mail To Liksang !

Now I am *really* confused! If GP32 games are not commercially viable why are so many people paying to download them from the Gamepark site? If you are paying then they are commercial games, albeit not boxed commercial games. As I understand it the GP32 is available to buy off the shelf in...

    Importing Into The Uk

That would make sense... but it would be about the only thing in the EU that did make sense;) I made the point because I once read about importing a car that way - US cars are way cheaper than here and I read about someone importing a Chrysler (or somesuchthing) into Portugal then driving it...

What To Play On The Train

Do ports count? xRick is spot on. Balloon and Balloon is pretty good. GPPang (the old version - not tried the new remakes) is perfect, if you like Pang. I also really like: GPAsteroids - perfect if you like Asteroids Akanoid - perfect if you like Arkanoid ...and anything by Akuma No Houkon...

    Importing Into The Uk

Three things... When I got my GP32 from LikSang they didn't mark it as a gift and I still didn't pay tax on it. Still no idea how I got away with it ;) Secondly, what about second hand stuff? If that doesn't incur a charge maybe the company could open the box, close it again and call it used...

How Important Is Having Sound In Emus?

Wow! Ask and ye shall receive! DrMD = the benchmark for emulation on the GP32. J(ohn)

How Important Is Having Sound In Emus?

I put option 2 but I'd really like to have an option between 1 & 2. I really don't care at all about music in games but I really miss the odd sound effect - it adds to the whole feedback thing. Somehow getting killed in a game just doesn't work without a corresponding crunch or scream...

Blueangelo : Send A Mail To Liksang !

Surely the sensible thing to have done would have been to create a poll on this board and then one person send them a link to the poll. That way the opinions of many GP32 owners could have been expressed without pissing them off with loads of emails. Bombarding LikSang with email will just end...

    Future Drmd Release?

Yeh, that's a great idea! I'm sure you could set aside 15 mins or so to write a SNES emu couldn't ya Reesy? :D J(ohn)

    The Best Non-handheld Console?

I know it's not a console but... I bought a cheap PC off Ebay, got a couple of low noise fans and a PS2 to USB adapter. The video card has TV out, wireless keyboard and mouse (on my coffee table), sound goes to my stereo and it's plugged into my wireless hub. The result is something that'll...

    Cool, Is It Not?

Legend hath it that when Apple Records took Apple Computers to court they got away with it because at that time computers made little more that bleeps and noone could see how computers would be used in the music industry. When Apple released the first version of Mac OS that included error...

    Cool, Is It Not?

...and Apple would go bust shortly afterwards. They've already tried going down this route (or starting to anyway) and very quickly they were up shit creek . It was only when Jobs came back in and got Apple back focussing on what they are good at that the company went back into profit. They do...

    Kill Bill

I appreciate that if you are a huge fan of Kung Fu movies there are multiple layers to be enjoyed in Kill Bill 1... but I'm not a huge fan of Kung Fu movies and so had to take Kill Bill 1 at face value. Sadly, at face value, I thought it was pretty duff. So duff, in fact, that I am in absolutely...
