Powering Gp2x With An Nds Lite Li-ion Battery

Ah good, I was about to post to ask the question. Li-ions have a stated voltage (under load) eg 3.7v; but a voltage which is higher when not under load, or little load; yes, the NDS Lite cells can get to 4.2v after recharge. I was going to ask if 4.2v would fry the GP2x, the fact Squidge says...

Powering Gp2x With An Nds Lite Li-ion Battery

Sure, will let you know if this is good to go or not. Will probably test tomorrow or following day, to see. With one of these batteries, it could be made to fit into the existing 2 x AA cavity, so the back plate can be shut as per normal. Trick is the battery life, which is the important thing...

Powering Gp2x With An Nds Lite Li-ion Battery

1 battery 1800mA, two in parallel 3600mA. Might be a lame duck, only by testing until the GP2x dies will a definitive answer be gained. Might give this a go in a week's time or less, to find out. Just need to solder the battery wires to the GP2x connectors and let it run. Point is that if the...

Powering Gp2x With An Nds Lite Li-ion Battery

Not even turned on my GP2x for ages now, I recently tried some NDS Lite Li-ion batteries to power a PSone screen and some plug'n'plays; didn't prove a great choice as I only got 50 mins from them whatever I did (2 of them in series as each cell is 3.7v), even when two sets of series cells were...

    Bacteria's Mini-platform Plug'n'play Console System

I was referring to hobbyists rather than people who have the ability to manufacture their own boards, commercially! A mill, or CNC equipment, or whatever is not practical and I have no access to anyone who has either, I only make for me (although I may make something in the future to sell...

    Bacteria's Mini-platform Plug'n'play Console System

Yes, people should look at the abilities not just looks. My system is unique, one of a kind; who else MAKES systems into cartridges and then makes them work into a universal cart slot?? Didn't use any paper on the console itself, only the carts. Needed to stick my artwork onto the case, paper...

    Bacteria's Mini-platform Plug'n'play Console System

YouTube video Project step-by-step guide on my website (see sig). TV plug'n'play systems have great games on them, but the controls are pretty bad; the systems are also not portable as they need to plug into a television to play a game. With my system, a plug'n'play system is ripped apart and...

    Me Doing Bacteria's D-pad Mod

Firstly EVERYONE - someone who finally did my (crude) mod and gave feedback about it - "Yeah, I don't know why people knocked this mod. It actually works pretty well.....it's worlds better than the joystick." I doubt I will get any apologies from the numerous idiots who slated my work a couple...

    Me Doing Bacteria's D-pad Mod

At last - someone tried my "ugly d-pad mod". I was getting pissed off when people at the time were slating it without trying it. I kept telling them that it worked fine and better than the stock joystick. Downside with it was that it worked for quite a while but wasn't permanent as I didn't use...

    Me Doing Bacteria's D-pad Mod

Use a dremel or similar tool: Circular cutter to slice through mobo. Sanding drum to GENTLY rub off the covering to get to the copper traces. Drill bits to cut the holes. Look on my site if you like, as part of my project (eg current Mini-Multi Platform Console system) shows how to do it.

    Me Doing Bacteria's D-pad Mod

The way buttons register is actually rather simple. You have a (common) ground one on connection and one for the button itself (eg "up" or whatever). When you press that button the two contacts connect completing the circuit. Ground is common as it is used for all connections, and ground is...

    Gp2x Running On 3 Batteries

At some point I am going to modify my main GP2x with a pair of NDS Lite batteries in parallel, each one is rated 3.7v, although they register 4.2v; a pair of them in parallel will rate at 3600mA and being Li-ions, will have more oomph! I will also put in a sleek d-pad; however I have other...

    Gp2x Feeling Its Age

Battery terminals - open up any remote control or whatever that uses batteries and desolder the terminal tabs; you can then desolder the ones on the GP2x and solder on the new ones. D-pad mod - plenty of guides on this forum for doing that. Then, your issues are resolved, good as new.

You can easily find the contact points by using a multimeter - one terminal on ground connection, one on a direction pin, press d-pad, then you can work out what is what.

    Me Doing Bacteria's D-pad Mod

Ok, got your PM mate. Been ages since I looked at this old mod of mine, it was my first modding experience and my skills were totally shite in comparison to now. The joystick is the same for MK1 as MK2, however it was rotated a bit on MK2. The orange and red wires must be grounding...
