    Help: Unit Spawning bugs

Weakrefs seem pointless here, and certainly aren't worth confusing a relative beginner. Now oventoaster, you haven't really told us a lot about your code, so I don't know how you make your units move and attack. Having move and fight methods within the Red_Infantry class seems sensible to me...

    Help: Unit Spawning bugs

I think that what's happening is that you're appending the same instance of the class each time. I assume that, somewhere in your code, you have redI=Red_Infantry(), and that this line is only executed once (ie. it's not in a loop). You can think of classes as being sort of like an object's...

    Release PND management suite

PNDstore doesn't browse the old appstore. Craig never implemented the repo specification on the appstore, so it's not browsable from any client (unless you use this old hack of mine, which I don't recommend). Anything that PNDstore can access should also be accessible with PNDManager

    Pandora Apps Some Thoughts ....

On second thought, the API key isn't a bad idea. It's effectively just a password that can be used only through client software. And any repo that implements it could choose the API key to be the same as the user's usual password. Heck, if users complain about the API key, you could choose to...

    Pandora Apps Some Thoughts ....

Even hashed, as allowed for by digest authentication? ;) Security is about leveraging secrets; the password is already secret, so leverage it some more. Making users manage API keys is just a hassle when they don't need to. Also, I like repeating: existing standard. I was kind of hoping...

    Pandora Apps Some Thoughts ....

First, a repo API really is part of the repo specification. The whole JSON bit can communicate package information, but more complex interactions are an important extension to that. At the very least, users need to be able to log in so they can access PNDs that other users may not be allowed...

    Pandora Apps Some Thoughts ....

I once suggested using digest access authentication, as it is an existing standard and has some reasonable security against passive attackers (though it won't stop a man-in-the-middle). Milkshake said he'd look into it, then never followed up :P .

    Release PND management suite

Huh, why not? PNDs should have some way to give a proper description, not just a one-line summary. If you need a one-line summary, you could do what Debian does and treat the first line of the description as the short summary. Even if it's not a standard, it seems like a reasonable heuristic...

Release Qemu for Pandora (for rebirth competition)

mcobit has said that there's currently some upstream issue that breaks user-mode emulation on ARM. Which is too bad, because Wine.

    OPEN Morrowind for Linux

It does! As listed in the FAQ, one goal of the project is to "Support all existing content, including Tribunal, Bloodmoon and all user created mods."

    guihints - preview01, 02

MarioPandio: You're way overthinking this ;) Christoph's purpose in this thread is just to make icons. Have you ever played a game where something pops up, saying "Press the B button"? And sometimes they have an icon to represent the button? Christoph is making such icons for the Pandora...

    Release PNDstore

Thanks for letting me know Cloudef. New job + new apartment with no internet means you shouldn't hold your breath. But I'll get there!

    Release PNDstore

Sorry man, PNDstore is basically in maintenance-only mode now. But better things are in the works, like Panorama that DaMummy showed, and a new package management backend by Cloudef.

Pandora SDK, Developer Tools, Documentation [updated]

distPND is built for PXML generation and packaging for Python software. But I'm probably still the only person using it.

Please Delete:Radical Hardware Idea for Pandora 2(Outdated 2/22/2012)

Hold up there. I've read that thread. Craig said, to paraphrase, "Future chipsets will require more work to support Linux, but will easily support Android!" Exophase and WizardStan replied "That doesn't make sense. Linux support is only getting better." Essentially, they disagree on the...

[Pygame] Not suitable for full HD games?

Hi molul! Because these are boards for the Pandora, we're not generally concerned about resolutions higher than 800x480 ;) . But let's see if we can help. SDL is notoriously slow at handling alpha transparency, so you should avoid it whenever you can. The "convert" method turns your surface...

Release Qemu for Pandora (for rebirth competition)

I'm in the same boat! This (and other closed-source Linux games) would be an excellent application of user-mode emulation. mcobit, is the user-mode problem an upstream one? Do you know if they're actively working on it? Cause the prospect excites me. EDIT: I lied, my Windows copies are...

Your Holy gaming Grail for Pandora 2..?

Getting back on track... Keep your eye on OpenMW. It's making slow but consistent progress. Once it's ready, it should run on current Pandoras, no upgrade necessary.

    Mathematica

I've long used Python for my mathematical needs. The NumPy, SciPy, matplotlib, and SymPy libraries should all run on a Pandora (though I don't have one to test). I find this setup much nicer to use than Matlab. But I've never used the other programs you mention, so I can't compare to them.

    First generation games for OpenPandora?

That was so funny it was worth reading three times! Let's just look at a few things you said earlier, with a little bolding to help out: You're not afraid of open-source apps, you just think they're killing indies. With that, I would like to request a thread lock, as it's obvious that no...
