    Help Running Emulators?

It only does that if those folders already exist. And if you know to make those folders, then you know how to use PNDs. I could have PNDstore make those folders for you, but if you're running PNDstore, you know how to use PNDs. It's hard accommodating a wide range of user needs.

    Beta Pndstore

Hasn't been too much planning yet. I figure I'll include a pane on the right side of the window that gives extra information on the selected package, but I haven't thought about it too much; I'm still slowly hammering out basic usability stuff. I could always remake the GUI entirely from scratch.

    Release PNDstore

meandu's right. 0.2.3 was only a bugfix release; the 0.3 beta has the new features. I just want confirmation that they work before I make an official 0.3 release. That might be a challenge. The repository spec does not include upload dates, so they can't be sorted that way. I could...

    Beta Pndstore

These are both in the todo pile. I think sorting will be the next feature on which I work. That indicates that that program isn't available from the repository. Not everything gets uploaded there. All programs that have a newer version in the repository, yes. The beta for version 0.3 lets you...

    Beta Pndstore

I've just posted a beta of version 0.3 on my own site. There are only two new features (I've been busy): Checkboxes alongside upgrades allow you to select which to skip. Basic GUI threading. Threading allows the GUI to remain responsive while it's performing a long-running task like...

    Release public beta test

Archived versions don't seem to be working quite right. When I updated PNDstore earlier today, there were several errors shown regarding file copying (I didn't think to note the error message, unfortunately), and it doesn't yet show any archived versions available. Also, when trying to...

    Release PNDstore

I've just uploaded a bugfix to the repo. PXML parsing should now be just about as robust as possible. peelie, stouffa, let me know if you get any more problems.

    Release PNDstore

Thanks for reporting, peelie. There's a mistake in the PXML; I'll try to concoct an appropriate workaround. milkshake, take note: the PXML spec says that the package block must contain a title block, which contains title elements; the package block cannot contain title elements directly...

    Pandora Apps "hacked"?

It's my understanding that that was part of Craig's intent with the app store, but I didn't think it had been implemented yet. I can't imagine there's been much demand for paid apps so far. If my understanding is correct, then Craig should be able to implement the repo spec without trouble...

    Port And Dev Help

All PNDs have all terminal output redirected to a file, /tmp/pndrun_appid.out. But a better approach might be to not test PNDs until you know the compiled binaries work. Run those directly on a Pandora to see whether they work right, then put them in a PND. Continuing Magic Sam's suggestion...

Is it possible to run "Don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story"

Pygame comes with Pandoras by default, FFmpeg is included in the codec pack (I think), and fribidi is in the Angstrom repos (implying it's easy to build for Pandora). Those dependencies don't sound nasty. Are there any others?

Searching the best language/way to program games in 3D

Pygame doesn't do 3D at all; it's essentially just bindings to SDL, and SDL doesn't do 3D. Fortunately, this means that speed problems endemic to Pygame don't necessarily apply to 3D renderers. As a fan of Python, I've been looking at 3D engines to use on Pandora. The most straightforward...

Is it possible to run "Don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story"

Both this and Digital depend on Ren'Py, a Python library. As far as I know, no other external libraries are needed. Ren'Py says that it uses OpenGL if available, but can fall back to software rendering. So, someone with a Pandora, if you can get Ren'Py working, you can get these games working.

    Beta Pndstore

I just posted a response. As I understood, he was saying that an updater could just parse the webpage to find the version number. It's possible, but I don't think it's very practical, and it's certainly nowhere close to the same as the repo spec. Implementing it in PNDstore would pretty much...

    Pandora Apps Site

Unfortunately, screen scraping does require a complex system, at least on the client end. Consider that client software first has to pull out this chunk of HTML: <span class="author">by Googer (port) - 1.66MB, 1.0 - 25/4/2011 </span>,That's easy enough, but then it has to get the...

    Beta Pndstore

Esn, there'll be no problems. All PNDs are identified by package/application IDs, so it still knows when to upgrade it. When upgrading, though, the old PND is removed, and the new one is downloaded with the filename defined by the repo. So if you rename a PND, upgrades will revert it to a...

    Beginner's advice?

First, to clarify, when you say 2.5D in the style of classic Fallout, you're referring to the oblique/isometric perspective it has, right? That is, all game assets and drawing are 2D, but the character moves through a 3D world. This is in contrast to games like LittleBigPlanet or Trine (also...

    Beta Pndstore

That's a good suggestion, but a bit of trouble to implement. The install locations are pulled directly from libpnd at runtime, so I'll need to futz with them to put them in order. It starts getting hairy once you realize that those directories and the output locations are configurable. Still...

    Release public beta test

Thott Chief: ratings are already included in the spec. Comments aren't yet; nor is the "additional info" the repo allows. Is there any other information that isn't made available through the current spec? There's a limit to how much I think should be included in the JSON; I wouldn't want to...
