The Nightmare That Gph Made Wiz...

Didn't you learn from your last warning?. You came to an assumption about me as a person, based upon forums posts?!. That is crazily naive and closed-minded of you. Reported (again).

The Nightmare That Gph Made Wiz...

I'm so relieved that there are other lateral-thinking, logical people on this forum :) . This is an *extremely* stupid design, and I am wondering why people are defending the consoles SO much - it almost smells of fanboyism at its' worst extreme. And to create a computer with a bootloader that...

    :D yeah, my mistake.

The Nightmare That Gph Made Wiz...

Oh of course - I intentionally tried to brick my Wiz... I take it back... you're right. Yes it's great that I'm not smart enough to realise that the *CONSOLE* should verify existance of a replacement firmware image, before erasing its' current OS in flash, pre-emptively. Imagine...

Caanoo / WIZ :( Have I Bricked My Wiz?!

I'll try to get a guide put together today. Thanks for the offer of help, but as I said, I've got all the info I need and I worked it out myself (apart from the resistors/boot pin locations which Claude helped with). I am an electronics engineer - soldering & hardware doesn't phase me, unlike a...

Is yours bricked?. I'll tell you how to fix it tomorrow! ;)

    Another "wiz Vs ........" Thread

Hey!. Want a console that can automatically, seamlessly and painlessly BRICK itself without a second thought?. Buy a Wiz, and prepare for the stress caused by a company who couldn't design a wheel and get it right... you've been warned!. Fact.

The Nightmare That Gph Made Wiz...

Nightmare, and about TWO people know how to fix it... Seriously guys, boycott GPH until they make something worthwhile - this is a silly device which hasn't the sense to realise that my SD card *didn't* have the recovery firmware on it, BEFORE erasing the flash, in preparation to restore it to...

The Nightmare That Gph Made Wiz...

This console is very interesting, but *VERY* difficult to recover, should something go wrong (and it is TOO easy to make it go wrong!). GPH, I hold you accountable for the headaches that this console is causing me - goodness knows what I'd do if I *wasn't* a computer geek!!. Nightmarish!!

Caanoo / WIZ :( Have I Bricked My Wiz?!

I managed to get u-boot working without flashing it to NAND :) - but I have NO idea what commands I need to use to restore my proper bootloader or OS - can you help?!. Also, how long does it take to write the bootloader back to NAND (option 4) seems to take AGES!!

Caanoo / WIZ :( Have I Bricked My Wiz?!

I have a serial cable yes - you're very kind... so what do I do then? (once I have the files) :)

Caanoo / WIZ :( Have I Bricked My Wiz?!

I started it up with serial connected... nothing!. I should never have rebooted it when it was at the U-boot prompt! :(

Caanoo / WIZ :( Have I Bricked My Wiz?!

I just booted my Wiz (serial cable attached) and held down the right button, assuming the recovery firmware was on my SD card... but it wasn't. This is the readout I got from my terminal on the computer - looks worrying: U-Boot 1.1.6 (Jun 10 2009 - 18:05:46) U-Boot code: 03680000 -> 036B0AF0...

    Wiz Ext Pinout?

New info (I think :) ): The internal view of the GP2X "Wiz" ext connector. Pins 12 & 19 which are +5v in (loading) are shorted together internally, and pins 21 & 22 which are ground, are shorted together internally also. This allows us to free up two pins inside the standard supplied USB...

Howto: Usb Serial Shell With Stock Usb Cable

This *SO* doesn't work - I launched the latest gpe, modprobed okay, confirmed with dmesg... did ls /dev/ to confirm /dev/ttyUSB0 is there... opened kermit, set line to /dev/ttyUSB0 and connect... *FAIL*... just hangs there. Can you fix this please?.

I Need To Know The Serial Pinouts; Rx, Tx And Gnd

Surely all the 5v DC inputs from the USB to the wiz (red) are connected together *inside* the console, so I can free up two of the three +5vdc pins which are strapped together here, and move the pins to the serial (com) RXD & TXD locations?. Also, does there NEED to be *two* ground pins, or can...

I Need To Know The Serial Pinouts; Rx, Tx And Gnd

I am just curious - I have been examining various GNU/Linux-based router bootlogs, by connecting to the serial port on their PCBs. I love knowing what is going on inside my gadgets, hence my request here.

I Need To Know The Serial Pinouts; Rx, Tx And Gnd

Hi guys. Okay, making a simple request for all you great people - don't need pointing to any messy Wikis with back-to-front pin numbering etc, or having diagrams drawn in ASCII please - I simply wish to know which pins are serial RX, serial TX & GND?. Here is a nice clear photo of the connector...
