    Debian on SD

Cross forum posting for the win. I've just uploaded another release.. this one's really just 1.0.4 but with XFCE instead ( and a couple of minor tweaks, which I'll detail below, as there's no point grabbing 1.0.5 if you already have 1.0.4 unless you want XFCE instead of LXDE. ) You can grab...

You need to make your user part of the wheel group, as all the pnd specifics are on the wheel group, rather than the sudo group. Check the guide on which groups you should be a part of: http://pandorawiki.org/Debian_On_SD#Users_and_Permissions there's a few of them! I'll probably clean this up...

Wifi is not working... hardware or software issue? (video inside)

How are you reflashing? Also, as I said earlier, I made a mistake about /usr/lib/dbus-1.0/dbus-daemon-launch-helper - that's on Debian, not Angstrom; which is what you'll have. And you're meant to be root to delete anything on the main system (IE: outside your home folder) so you will need...

    Beta Gimp 2.6.9

Yep, beaten... back to being chained to my Debian desk then ;) Nice work :)

Wifi is not working... hardware or software issue? (video inside)

Sounds like a bad flash then.. reflash it.. as mentioned, there's no harm in not doing it, and it may fix it so you don't need to send it in - which you seem adamant about avoiding! Also, I did mention in the following line in your quote to use "sudo" .. you don't have a root account, you use...

    Beta Gimp 2.6.9

I'm working on compiling 2.6.11 with Python support at the moment.. taking a while on the poor Pandora though ( and lots of memory.. lol look at that swap space get chewed! ) Compiling PyGTK at the moment as the one in the Angstrom repository is out of date. But yea, this is much better than my...

Wifi is not working... hardware or software issue? (video inside)

Apologies for derailing the post with a possible fix, I'll be quick ;) I got this thing on Debian and it was a pain in the arse to try and fix. First, ensure the following files exist: /lib/udev/rules.d/50-compat_firmware.rules /lib/udev/rules.d/compat_firmware.sh...

What was it you did? Just add the "killall -1 pndnotifyd" line? Might as well feed it back in so that when I get round to 1.1 its as solid and stable as I can get it :)

    GIMP

*sigh* That GIMP PND was a proof of concept for quickly taking programs from the Angstrom repository and wrapping them with some AuFS tricks to get them running in a PND. It was not supposed to be released ( outside the original thread much anyway, so I could track bugs - and no-one told me...

    Debian On An Sd Card

This is generally why I label everything I do as dodgy hacks, as someone always manages to find rather obscure bugs ;) Not a clue about this one either, I'm afraid. Also, how did you create your user? as I noticed I accidentally left in the new user stuff from Angstrom, which is broken and...

    Debian On An Sd Card

Hmm, that's controlled via the pandora-state init script... you could "force" it in by doing "sudo /etc/init.d/pandora-state restart" after setting your nubs. Not sure why it isn't running though.. it should be - everything else is.. I suppose there had to be ONE problem! I've also been...

    Beta Bennu Runtime

I might have another look at it over the week.. but I'll need someone to test it properly as I don't really know the language and I've enough to do at the moment :( It would probably be a bit more useful now that more people have Pandoras to test it with, rather than last year when barely...

    Debian on SD

Not sure what else there is to experiment with.. though I did notice another feature to add to my Extend Utils suite :) I'll be working on "System Overlays" in a bit; effectively this gets mounted _at boot_ and everything goes direct to your Overlay file on SD card. This stops any and all...

    Debian On An Sd Card

Try doing "killall -1 pndnotifyd" in a Terminal.. I forgot to add this to the xsession when it seemed to work... it might be it's looking at the wrong user. Some of the config stuff is wrapped in PNDs so that's mostly why it's there, and I didn't want to start splitting the user base with...

    Debian On An Sd Card

New (final) release! 1.0.4 .. based on Emdebian Grip, which makes it slightly smaller and slightly faster again. This comes with iceweasel ( firefox, ) synaptic, gnome-mplayer, lxde, and the usual stuff. The PND system seems to work fine in this release - obviously libraries aren't all in place...

    Beta Bennu Runtime

I don't have the source any more, this was built almost a year ago now. It was fairly trivial to build though, so I wouldn't expect you'd have any problems. I didn't really get any feedback from this so I never kept up to date with things, I'm afraid... therefore I cannot offer any support for it.

    Debian On An Sd Card

PanDebian is more akin to Extend Utils than running Debian as a bootable OS from SD - which is what *this* particular project is. At the moment, it's particularly hacky, as I'm forcing bits of Pandora Angstrom into Debian to make it co-operate.. I'm working on one last release of this...

[Release] Ai Super-Jumbo 2011-03.a - For All Beagle Boards

Interesting.. I had a quick look at this and they use AuFS and SquashFS Overlays behind the scenes to make it all work! They have what looks like the stock rootfs in a SquashFS image for each system, and then an Overlay folder for each system on their ext3 partition, plus a common-data folder...
