GCW Zero - Open Source Gaming Handheld

I see. I wasn't aware of any QC issues with the Dingoo, I've had 3 units (sold my 1st white one when the black version came out, smashed the 2nd black one, 3rd one still working) and they've all been wonderful to me. I see your reservations then. Hopefully these will be better. But why does...

GCW Zero - Open Source Gaming Handheld

You know that the hardware is different, vastly improved over the Dingoo. Why would it be a problem if it turned out the devices were being manufactured in the same factories as the A320 and were mostly compatible?

    wifi

OK so it's not an acknowledgement from the team so much, but to learn that this problem is widespread with CC manufactured boards answers some questions I was asking 2 years ago. 100KB/s would be a dream for me, I am lucky to get 20KB/s. I never managed to download anything from the appstore...

    wifi

So I read yesterday that the wifi problem has actually been acknowledged as a fault with the hardware. When I first got my Pandora in May 2010 I spent weeks trying to get help with this but was just repeatedly told that my router was probably at fault. Wifi problems, along with the very...

GCW Zero - Open Source Gaming Handheld

because it's funny to rile people who get riled too easily. i'd rather have a 2.8 inch screen (or whatever it is) than a 5 inch one anyday. for me the perfection would be 3.5 inch at 640x480.

GCW Zero - Open Source Gaming Handheld

Yes I agree that what he said was technically wrong, but I very much doubt he purposefully lied or was trying to stir up shit. Their is very little overlap between the Pandora community and the Chinese handheld communities, so little that I doubt the Pandora even entered his mind when he was...

GCW Zero - Open Source Gaming Handheld

the pandora isn't a viable option for most people who follow the handheld market. it's too expensive and not readily available. that's why it's not usually considered when these comparisons are being made.

    Game Gadget

Right. I didn't know they were claiming that it was made in the UK. On their website a few months ago they only claimed that it was developed in the UK. I doubt very much that it's made here, especially since Ingenic are a Chinese firm.

    Game Gadget

What do you mean by "Dingoo Style Device"? It's got an Ingenic JZ4750 inside it, whereas the Dingoo had an Ingenic JZ4732. So they're both based on similar SoCs... which makes them similar to one another I suppose.

    Game Gadget

ED, there is nothing on the net about it because they only got their activation software working a few hours ago. Until then the only thing people could do with their GameGadget was put it on a table and stare at it. I'm sure there will be some videos, reviews and more coverage in a few...

    Game Gadget

It'll be because of the shop I guess... So they can keep track of what you've downloaded and investigate any problems by looking directly at your account. I'm assuming that by "activation" they mean really mean account creation anyway, could be wrong.

The latest from 4 hours ago: I hope they feel pretty f***ing stupid right now. Very glad I didn't pre-order, though may be tempted if it get's the OpenDingux treatment.

    SONY PlayStation Vita (PS Vita)

Has it really come to this? You spend your money on a game, get home and just want to get stuck in but you can't because of some convoluted and pointless activation scheme that Sony decided to implement. Imagine if 10 years ago someone told you this is how it would be, you'd laugh in their face...

    Game Gadget

we already know it's CPU and VPU. and it's not even a chinese product description, it's developed by a team in Doncaster (UK) - they should know better I guess.

    Game Gadget

yeah sorry i wasn't clear. what i meant was that the jz4732 inside the dingoo can get as high at 430mhz, so the gamegadget should be able to get higher than that. the jz4750 inside the gamegadget is already overclocked from 360mhz though. either way, the spec bump isn't enough, which is a shame.

    NeoGeo X - A new NeoGeo Portable ( Dec 6 Release )

It's just bad journalism by MCV, apparently that price originated from someone in a Japanese forum saying that they would be willing to pay that much for it and it got translated over incorrectly.

Jason Cooper's comment: There's no way it could cost £500 in that case.

    Game Gadget

i guess it can clock slightly higher than the dingoo (336mhz vs 360mhz in the gamegadget). i don't know if the small spec bump will be enough to encourage all the developers away from the dingoo and onto the gamegadget...
