Craig stated quite clearly that the ICP2 was only an after hours effort and that they all had day jobs, he didn't need to take a wage, nor should he have. The Kickstarter was to pay for production and probably make a little profit. That's clearly not how it has been used.
Still defending him...
It's really frustrating to continually see people posting shitty legal advice on this forum when 1) They don't now what they're talking about and 2) They don't both to read the link they're commenting on.
You can file a small claim in the UK. It costs 25 pounds, that's it. And you can add that...
He took a huge pile of money for 1GHz Pandora orders then the money disappeared and none were produced. That's not taking a salary, that's theft, or more accurately fraud.
Nail on the head. If CC could be held to account because of an implied contract, then Craig screwed up because he never did. If they can't be held to account, then Craig screwed up because there was no contract. Either way, Craig screwed up.
Not to mention the fact he took a pile of money from...
I know several successful entrepreneurs, and while they all seem to be risk takers the reason they're successful is because they manage and understand the risk. Don't confuse Craig's failures with being a big thinker, his failures are due to his ego, arrogance, incompetence and lack of morals...
To reiterate: This is the dumbest idea I've ever heard. Craig screws us all and you honestly think buying the (questionable) IP from him will somehow result in backers being refunded!? All it will result in is Craig getting more money for shafting everyone who supported him, backers will never...
@sswam You didn't really need to post your idea on every ICP2 thread...
But to get my point across, here's what I replied elsewhere:
It's nice to see you've finally accepted that Craig isn't some innocent victim here. It's not so nice you're still advocating giving that thief more money.
As fair as I can tell, Craig failed to manufacture the cases and swivel clamps and never ordered the nubs, keymats, dome stickers etc etc and he is refusing to account for the money. It's a pretty safe assumption he blew the cash and has nothing to show for it.
You're not alone on that one. There are 2168 other people who wish they'd never gotten involved with Craig. It may be of some comfort to know the majority of those 2168 people are likely aware that it's Craig who has screwed us all, you included, and you're just trying to pick up the pieces. And...
Finally! Nice work Stuart, I'll be interested in hearing your progress.
To everyone else who Craig owes money: Stop listening to the people here who are suggesting Craig might not have/hasn't done anything illegal. Frankly, they have no idea what they're talking about and they're doing you...
You don't need public interest or a petition, there is a small claims court to handle all of this. But people are more interested in talking everything to death than doing anything practical about it.
@Levi That was your choice and probably a good one. But there are a number of people out there who haven't taken up ED's offer for whatever reason and are still waiting on a Pandora or refund from Craig. Those people should be filing a claim before it's too late. But aside from a lot of...
His sister already quit because of the abuse she was supposedly getting over the ICP2. I've emailed Jacquelyn on several occasions and the impression I get is that she believes whatever Craig tells her. Even when the lines he was feeding her were massive contradictions she stuck to the party...
It really doesn't matter whether Craig's actions are legal or illegal because aside from speculating in this forum, no one is going to do anything. I'm amazed that not a single UK based customer of his has filed a claim with the small claims court for their unfulfilled Pandora order.
I've said...
@Moxie, while I agree you over-worry, it's pretty clear your heart is in the right place.
Their terms are written to ensure they have no legal responsibility. They've been contacted multiple times by multiple people throughout the ICP2 Kickstarter and everyone has received the same response -...
Kickstarter don't care at all. They make it crystal clear they're not responsible for delivery of any project. The best you'll get from them is "contact the project creator".
I withdraw the word "zealot", it was rude. But to describe developing propriety software as "unethical" is absurd. I'm committing an immoral act because I want to make something and sell you one unit, without giving you the right and ability to copy and distribute it for free to all and sundry...
Apologies for my poorly worded reply. I was agreeing with you that the people behind open source projects don't really differ from those behind closed source projects. And because of the widespread use of open source code/binaries in closed source projects, in many many cases they're the same...
