    Silence!

ED, any chance to get the Pyra in time for the Hamburg miniDebConf (2018-05)? https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEvents/de/2018/MiniDebConfHamburg

    Dragonbox Pyra Discord : REBORN

I'm doing practically the same, but with XMPP. The XMPP server must have an IRC gateway component, e.g. biboumi. E.g. for the XMPP server movim.eu, the address of the channel would be #dragonbox-pyra%irc.freenode.net@irc.movim.eu. I have also installed biboumi at my works XMPP server, so me and...

    Dragonbox Pyra Discord : REBORN

Please note, that to join an IRC channel, it is not necessary to use an IRC client. I participate in IRC channels from my XMPP client (Gajim) using a gateway software installed on the XMPP server, called biboumi. AFAIK, one can also join IRC via similar gateways in the Matrix network. I agree...

    It could be we're there!

Did you get the organic sweets that I used as packaging material? :~)

    Finalizing the PCBs

Great news! Btw. I would buy a transparent case and leave the original one (black?) as backup if it breaks. Can I order here and now? :~)

    Librem 5 phone by Purism

IMHO, it would be very, very good, if their crowdfunding succeeds. For me, the the Librem 5 is not the ideal phone, I prefer the Pyra myself (if it only had a camera!), but for many people it is the other way around: They prefer a more "typical" style phone without keyboard. Therefore, I not...

I'm out of ideas for news-titles

Which flir camera model has been used for the pictures? Just curious!

    Open... and close... and open...

And there is some echo in the worldwide Linux community: Debian GNU/Linux Running On Mobile Devices Like PocketCHIP, Samsung Galaxy, ZeroPhone, & Pyra https://fossbytes.com/debian-on-mobile-devices-pocketchip-samsung-galaxy-zerophone-pyra/ Looks Like Debian GNU/Linux Runs on Quite a Few...

    Build own kernel?

Now you saw it! And there it is even with your PocketCHIP: https://bits.debian.org/2017/08/debian-mobile-continues.html

    Open... and close... and open...

The Pyra has been shown at the Debian Conference in Montréal (DebConf17) and the prototype is now back in Germany! AFAIK, this was the first transatlantic travel of a Pyra, practically the Charles Lindbergh Pyra :~) There is also a news post about the Pyra and other devices running Debian...

    Build own kernel?

Thanks, cloned it! (Still running 4.10 here, however.) Thanks, found it (./arch/arm/configs/letux_lpae_defconfig). Yes, but only for a short time.

    Build own kernel?

Hi, where can I get the current kernel sources with config for Pyra to build it on my own? I like to add tons of modules, so that I can connect all kind of USB stuff :~) Mainly: USB wifi and ethernet adaptors, because wifi is pretty broken on "my" prototype. TIA! PS: I would ask in IRC, but I...

Can't agree more! :~) Transparency rules!

    The magnificent seven

I still like them. Transparent would be my favourite, of course! Can't wait to see them boot, whatever colour...

    That took a while...

Wonderful pictures! Very nice colours, still I very much prefer transparency, like the prototype :~)

    That took a while...

Wonderful news, lovely photos! Anyway, above all colours shown, I love the transparent most. Transparency rules! :~)

Potential for Linux-libre on the Pyra?

Not really. How would you check the behaviour of a GPU related blob? Or a kernel driver? Would the output depend on time? Maybe an audio driver starts keylogging only after one year? There is a reason, security experts prefer to see the source and not a black box.

Potential for Linux-libre on the Pyra?

I did not write "totally free". The question is: Will the Pyra at least work without any blobs or not? E.g. if a blob is needed to use accelerated graphics, fine, one can still use the Pyra without acceleration. If a blob is needed for bluetooth, fine, one can live without bluetooth or use a USB...

Potential for Linux-libre on the Pyra?

We have to distinguish two cases: If you need non-free firmware blobs, it is not free, but there are few practical problems (well, depends). I can live with this and still sleep well. If there are non-free kernel drivers, it is not only not free, but you cannot upgrade the kernel anymore! This...

Update regarding the cases (and some other things)

Yes to transparency! After holding the transparent Pyra prototype in my hands, I would not want any other colour anymore :~) How much do 25 kg of transparent material cost (EK = Einkaufspreis, purchase price) more or less?
