    Rrootage For Gp2X V1.0

I am surprised to hear this is a problem for people.. I disabled drawing the scoreboard background because I saw it as totally unnecessary and so a good way to save a few CPU cycles. I never have a problem playing without it (I can complete levels up to 7 or so. After 7A it gets a bit to...

    Rrootage For Gp2X V1.0

Heya Magic Sam thanks for your kind donation :) I have been very busy with real-life stuff.. Moving and preparing for my big hike. I will only have about 6 more days I can program before I head out into the woods for a half a year or so. I might or might not have time to fix the saved...

Are People Interested In Gp2X Modding Still?

I always read things, just usually don't post :) I am more interested in mods that don't use the GP2X TV out to power an LCD.. I consider those impractical.

    F200 Battery Compartment

My F200 currently does not work off batteries. If I resolder the battery terminals it might work for a day or two but it goes back to just showing a black or rainbow screen when turned on eventually. My F100 still works fine off batteries to this day, just like when I got it.

More Stuff Using The Second Core ?

Thanks for the kind words, Ledow :) I was pretty surprised to see how high the frame rate was for rRootage, even after taking everything out. I wasn't expecting hundreds of alpha-blended polygons rendered one atop the other would be kind to the GP2X but it is fine! rRootage uses floats just...

How To Change Firmware Back To Standard (F200)

I'm glad it works now.. No, GMenu2X's touchscreen support really isn't good enough for day-to-day use yet. I am not the original author and already had my hands full adding all the other features. It would require a bit of work to make it snappy and precise like I would like it to be...

How To Change Firmware Back To Standard (F200)

There's absolutely nothing Open2X could *possibly do* that would make your touchscreen and SD cards stop working between an install of it and an older GPH firmware. Nothing, OK? What *is* known is that the GP2X's SD support sucks and so does their firmware. How are you determining that...

    Uqm Language Packs For Wiz

The GP2X language pack should work fine for the Wiz because it doesn't contain code, only data. The problem is that the launch scripts will be a little different. I just got a Wiz so I'll see what I can do.

    Rrootage For Gp2X V1.0

I run Ubuntu on my notebook and had no problems finding and installing it, it works great. rRootage does all sorts of stuff with the YUV layers and I have no TV with Svideo input currently so, for now, don't expect TVout to work.

    Rrootage For Gp2X V1.0

I have seen videos of your port in action, so I can appreciate how much time you spent on it. You modified the UI a bit, added the opening instructions, etc, pretty impressive ;) Just curious, did you have trouble with the music? I saw sound seemed to be disabled in the videos I was...

    Rrootage For Gp2X V1.0

The game is displayed at 320x240 resolution, which is the maximum that the GP2X supports. Internally, the game uses a higher resolution before rendering occurs. I am glad you like the game but I have a feeling you haven't tried the PC version in lowres mode: the GP2X version is just as easy...

    Rrootage For Gp2X V1.0

rRootage for GP2X v1.0 February 18 2010 Rootage is a open-source "bullet hell" abstact style shoot-'em-up written by Kenta Cho from Japan. Very fun and addictive! Archive download link: http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/gp2x.cgi?0,0,0,0,30,2828 Please note: GP2X version does not have all...

The Touch Screen Has Gone All Wierd.

Someone recently had success by repeatedly running through the calibration process, three times total, I think.

    Acronym Pronunciation

In America, it's always Gooey, noone ever spells out G-U-I. And back when GIFs were most popular (the 90s) they were alternately pronounced JIFs or GIFs but, like you, I always found JIF confusing and laughable when I heard it. I think mostly, over here at least, GIF is more popular.

To The Other Noob Programmers Out There...

Any time someone says "I have a good understanding of C++" you should look at them with somewhat skeptical eyes unless they look like this man. I'm not saying C++ is a bad language but it is powerful, convoluted, filled with nuance, and hardly intuitive. I would highly suggest starting out...

    The Philosophy Thread

A good observation, pointing out how in order for life to evolve plenty of "evil" was necessary.. I am forever astounded at the disparity between the kindness and gentleness in people I meet day to day in comparison to what I know people have been capable of in history. Is this as good as...

    Gp2X Power Supply?

Here is a link to the forum thread for the latest Open2X DR7 release with download and installation info. As laharl mentioned above, I recently released a newer kernel you should try if you are having any problems with SDHC compatibility. You must first install Open2X from the first link...
