Clarks "Cheese Bottom" Footwear [Crepe Soles]

Although it wasn't the ants that killed him, it was the hospital treating him for cancer when he actually had tuberculosis. The ants certainly didn't help of course. They do help this guy though: https://www.youtube.com/embed/G0y1QZtoDK4?feature=oembed Anyway, back on topic... The best...

Clarks "Cheese Bottom" Footwear [Crepe Soles]

The terms cheese bottom and crepe sole are leaving me with the mental image of shoes covered with ants.

    Freedom of the web

In Australia you (and libraries) can lend something as long as there wasn't a licence you had to agree to when getting the original (software eula, etc). However if the thing is a copy of the original, it must be a legal copy (transcoding a vhs into a digital form is ok, copying vhs to vhs...

    Leaving Pandora on indefinately

Twice I've had replacement batteries in my Iriver H300 (mp3 player) swell to over 3 times their normal size, crushing the internal hard drive until it couldn't spin. So I stopped trying to use cheap batteries and ordered a proper one from america. Years later and the H300 is still running fine...

    Faster delivery upgrade-Information (2012-03-06)

In australia, we only have to pay GST (10% goods and services tax) on things imported from another country if the total package value is over $1000au. (Whereas almost everything bought locally has GST included, regardless of price)

Raspberry Pi - 25 Dollar PC on a USB stick

Maybe we can get some cheap through that chinese company selling the fake pandoras? :)

Raspberry Pi - 25 Dollar PC on a USB stick

I wonder how many of the people buying these really know what it is they are getting? Bare ARM circuit boards running linux aren't exactly the easiest systems to use (I've got a beagleboard and a pandaboard es).

    Mame Cabinet/setup

There's some cool info at http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/introduction.html for building an arcade controller for a pc. Tons of info on available joystick and button brands and printable templates for 20 common button/joystick layouts.

    Mame Cabinet/setup

I've been building (well, so far mostly planning on building) something similar to the xarcade for work (I teach games programming). It will be a two player arcade controller containing a PandaBoard ES. Just plug in a monitor and some power and it's good to go. I'd like to make it a full stand...

    Sennheisers

I replaced my dead PX200's with the PX200-II. I didn't really notice any sound difference at first, possibly because there was a several month gap from when the PX200 died to when I got a replacement. I think I've noticed it a bit now, but I don't trust my memory completely. I did notice that...

    Discussion about the BBC

True. But luckily I have cable so I can avoid local content and just stick to american/english stuff. The main issue I have with the bbc is how they failed to preserve old tv shows. They would reuse tapes. For example, they wiped (or lost) 106 episodes of the original doctor who and tried to...

What are you wearing?(Because craig demanded it)

Right now, grey cargo shorts and a They Live t-shirt. Earlier today at work (I'm a college programming lecturer): jeans, converse police boots and the same They Live shirt. :)

    Valentine's Day

Korea has 12 of them (14th of each month) but I don't know what the rest of them are about. Black day is usually the only one I need to know about. :) (Wouldn't surprise me if each one was started by a different segment of the food industry. Is there a day where you give potato chips? I'd...

    Valentine's Day

I like the korean way of doing it. Valentines Day (Feb 14) - women give chocolates to men White Day (Mar 14) - men give candy to women Black Day (Apr 14) - all the people who didn't get anything on the previous 2 events go to a restaurant to eat noodles with black bean sauce

    Worst story in a game

Sounds like the episode of Red Dwarf where Kryten's replacement Hudson 10 arrives. If a robot doesn't terminate itself when it's contract expires, the replacement is authorised to terminate it.

    What was your first computer?

My first one was a Rockwell AIM 65 It wasn't that useful though, it had a 20 character 1 line led screen and a thermal printer. It's hard to code (it had basic and an assembler built in) with just one line visible, plus I was only around 11 at the time. Then I got a TRS-80 Colour Computer 2...

    Computer Science is back!

Macs didn't get preemptive multitasking until Mac OS 9 (but all old software still ran in cooperative multitasking, where programs had to manually yield the cpu otherwise nothing else would run). The amiga had preemptive multitasking 14 years before that. Win NT 3.1 had it as well, 6 years...
