Impressive 8-Bit Colour Cycling HTML5 Demo

Low res modes (320x256 or 320x512 (I'm a PAL user)) had up to 32 colours (from a palette of 4096), 64 colours in Extra Half Bright mode (you define 32 colours, then the next 32 are copies of the previous 32 at half the brightness) and Hold And Modify (6 bits per pixel which can be 16 colour...

    Amazing Bible Code predictions!

I wrote my own to show in my AI class. It not only predicted (well, postdicted) that I would be a programming teacher, but also knew the winner of our ai robot tournament and it really loved the word combo "tom cruise idiot".

    As a home computer

Something like the Pandaboard would work well for an arm based desktop. It's got dual core cortex a9, 1GB of ram, hdmi and dvi, usb, ethernet, runs ubuntu 12.04 and android ics, etc. Although be careful, I got the pandaboard es model (faster cpus, more features) but there's still hardly any...

    Best place for Australian orders?

The pandora is being made in germany. openpandora.org is in england and ithic is in america. Shipping from germany to england to australia is probably quicker than germany to america to australia. :)

    Comedy/Comedians

I saw Henry Rollins last week. He's not really a comedian, but his spoken word tours can be incredibly funny. Although there's a lot of depressing stuff in there too (part of his act is stories about his travels, recently he's been to north korea and haiti, not the funniest of places).

    Faster delivery/upgrade - Craig's orders

From what I remember (and from old emails) there was no shipping option listed for australia, but some other regions had ups listed so I asked for that. No idea what kind I was put down for or how much it cost. Hmm, UPS have taken my Pandora back to germany. :) Everything else I've had...

All you programmers, have a good laugh at my education

Yep, BF is simple. But it may be too simple. As I said it depends on the scope of the project (how many marks it's worth, how long it should take, etc). It's a fun language for messing with people though. I often threatened to add BF as a scripting language to the game engine I was working on...

All you programmers, have a good laugh at my education

Hehe, cool. I made a brainfuck compiler in D the other day. It actually parses brainfuck source code while compiling D (uses metaprogramming). Although depending on the required scope of your project I'm not sure if brainfuck would be enough. Mine implemented all of the language except the...

    Faster delivery/upgrade - Craig's orders

First was an email from openpandorasales@gmail saying my pandora had shipped. 2.5 hours later UPS emailed me a tracking number and estimated delivery date.

All you programmers, have a good laugh at my education

At university I had a compulsory database class. I had already known sql for 6 years, but I almost failed the subject because I skipped half the classes (it was so boring) and the final exam had questions on Microsoft Access (such as which menu contained certain options). The teachers also had...

True, sounds like not much note taking would be needed for that class.

All you programmers, have a good laugh at my education

Except that in lisp if they don't know the lisp ternary compare then they don't know one of the common ways of doing conditional code. Lisp's "if" works the same way as C++'s "?:". A student taking notes? It's been years since I've seen that. I'm lucky if I can get my students to turn up to a...

As number 55 in the queue most of my time now is: . Ouch. I just noticed the other day that I've got dead pixels on one of my monitors, but I've had them (the monitors, not the dead pixels) for a couple of years so it's not as annoying as getting a new display with them.

What single player game have you sunk the most time into..

The Elite series for me. I started on the C64 Elite at a friends house (I was about 11 years old, and there was no trs-80 elite so I couldn't play at home). Eventually I got an Amiga and played a ton of Elite and Elite 2 Frontier. Years later I was on Elite 3 First Encounter on pc, but I didn't...
