A video. Again. Mostly about cases.

I'd be happy with the discoloured "raw" case on my Pyra. If the issue gets resolved later, I can buy another case like I did for the Pandora (went from black to silver).

Even more to see here (now)

Thinkpad is entitled to his opinion, but I wish he'd just take his pre-order money back and eff-off. The effort on ED's part and various co-horts is monumental. The number of times recently that ED has had flu, is probably no coincidence. Give the man a break. I have total faith, as he has been...

Even more to see here (now)

I have seen a car with this sort of paint job, as some midlife-crisis-dude in my old home town had a Aston Martin in that paint. Saw it many times, looks both cool and a bit naff at the same time.

What are you playing this weekend/these days?

Put several hours into Dragonquest Builders on PS Vita (physical). Really started to open up after a few hours and it's all the better for it. I quite like the more linear approach, as Minecraft is too open for me to enjoy in short doses.

Ubuntu is phasing out i386 (32bit) libraries altogether

@FBnil actually my C3 a Nehemiah (Via C3-2) so still x86 (32 bit) but falls into i686 cpu category.

Ubuntu is phasing out i386 (32bit) libraries altogether

As @Elw3 said earlier they started this rubbish years ago, when they stopped builiding kernels that run on i586 (like my Via C3). I had a MythTV running on that and that massively screwed me over. Even more annoying is that the CMOV instruction they said i586 didn't have that they needed, does...

No computer currently, nice to see Pyra dream still alive.

@JDTAY well, thanks for answering so frankly. I wish you well and hope you have a swift and solid recovery. A Pi3 with a case and keyboard might just be what you need.

No computer currently, nice to see Pyra dream still alive.

@JDTAY sorry if this is beyond nosey-parker, but when you say "How I destroyed my computer", do you mean just that "I destroyed my computer" or how you actually did it? Like, did you shoot it, Elvis-style or something? What happened, man?

    Release Ultima 7 (exult)

Thanks @Pickle, I have done as uou suggested, seemed a pretty good idea, but I won't keep the Ultima Collection sealed, I'll probably sell it. I didn't want for collecting, I just prefer physical as I can always pass it on at a loss (or occasionally a profit).

    Release Ultima 7 (exult)

Well, when I looked on GOG it was around 40 DKK which is about 5 GBP (I still convert everything back to quid) and the sealed, Ultima Collection was 30 USD. I prefer physical, plus it has all the other Ultima's on it, if I ever fancy playing IV, etc. However, in the Spring sale I see its now...

    Release Ultima 7 (exult)

Thanks for this @Pickle. Just went off and bought the Ultima Collection from Ebay.

    SONY PlayStation Vita (PS Vita)

I am a great fan of the Vita. In terms of form factor and build I much prefer it to my Switch. I still buy physical games for it, even if have to import - just bought The Nonary Games and Axiom Verge physical games in the last month. I buy digital a little but I prefer the resale opportunity...

    Update VICE 3.2 SDL1 and SDL2

Hi Canseco, I have used this yesterday, got my Jiffy dos setup but I can't get the ':' key to work. Obviously I checked that it works in a terminal window... Thanks for your efforts on this BTW.

    Ethernet Internet connection

I have one of these for my Galaxy Note 9 (I have it velcro'd to by beside drawers as the HDMI and ethernet cables make it heavier than the phone and I worry about the strain on the USB C port). https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07K2WCZ83 Does what it says it will do, though.

    Ethernet Internet connection

I would imagine you could hook up a USB-C hub device that has ethernet, USB and HDMI on it, provided Debian has driver support for the chipset?

    GPD Pocket 2 Announced

@fusion_power I wouldn't worry. The Pyra and certainly the Pandora before it, are niche products for enthusiasts. They were/are not mass produced and will never be. The beauty of them is that enthusiasts tend to stick around and if you look at the software support the Pandora still receives, not...

    PC/GEOS

First used GEOS on my C64. Got it when I got my MPS 803 printer around 1984 or 1985. I used to use Geowrite to write thank you letters at Xmas and birthdays and mail merge them (as the relatives never met or spoke to each other!) The whole thing felt like it was on the wrong system (it was!)...

WIP Report: No known hardware issues, 30 days of uptime

@crazyhorse this is true, I am part of the problem as I ordered some Pandora bits the other week and shipping was a little slow. A sign that the three jobs of his are squeezing the good man - the videography business, shop and Pyra, surely must be hard to keep all that going.

WIP Report: No known hardware issues, 30 days of uptime

@Silent-Hunter: shutting down manufacturing firms and factories in hot-Mediterranean countries in July or August, isn't unheard of. Seems weird to me as I come from the UK, but since moving to Denmark, where almost nothing gets done in the summer when people have 3 to 4 weeks off for their...

    Major Life Changes

Moved my family (three kids and wife) from the UK to Copenhagen to a new job. Started to learn Danish. Min dansk er stadig ikke så godt. Started to know what it's like to have no money! Started coding on my Pandora (make more use of the gadgets I have - see above!). Finished my part-time degree...
