    pandian - MARK3 - beta

Trying to upgrade some packages, aptitude tells me that pandian.openpandora.org/debian is not available. Anybody know if the repository has been removed? Thanks.

    128gb SDXC Card?

Just to say that I ordered a 256GB card, it arrived quite a few weeks ago but today I finally got a chance to use it. Copied over about 40GB onto it and it seems to be working just fine on my wee Pandora. One strange issue: I formatted the card using mkfs.ext4 on a different Linux system but...

    128gb SDXC Card?

Thank you both! I will go ahead and order one, probably 256GB.

    128gb SDXC Card?

Hello all. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I was thinking of getting a 128GB card as my two 64GB ones are full... The card I was thinking of is a 128 GB SDXC UHS-I card: https://www.uk.insight.com/en-gb/productinfo/memory-cards/0005243035-00000001 although I may consider the 256 GB...

How easy would it be to get xmonad up and running on a Pyra?

I use ratpoison on my Pandora and would expect to do the same on the Pyra. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

If a choice is possible in the wizard, which desktop environment(s) the Pyra OS should ship ?

I voted but my own preference would be ratpoison as WM with a DE. That's what I use on my Pandora and it maximises screen space use!

    Pyra as a Music Player

I use evil instead of vi(m) because: a) org mode in Emacs (which is something you will have missed in the intervening 15 years) and b) everything else in emacs including emms, tramp, gnus, eww, ... and I do all of this on the Pandora!

    pandian - MARK3 - beta

Glad you sorted it out. My system still boots up with a german keyboard layout and I have not managed to figure out how to change the default. Any pointers? I also would like to have the system automatically mount my second SD card as /home but, again, I've not figured out how to do this so...

    Pyra as a Music Player

Funnily enough, I use emacs as my music player (emms) even on my Pandora!

    Debian installation

I am not sure where to start to try to help. The various Debian alternatives for the Pandora are quite different in how you install them so I am surprised that you end up with the same situation with all of them. In any case, starting with X: have you look at the log files, specifically...

    pandian - MARK3 - beta

I do the following on my rebirth edition Pandora with pandian: echo 800 > /proc/pandora/cpu_mhz_max as root.

    ... we're still alive!

It's just a form of displacement activity while waiting to be able to order a Pyra... :)

    ... we're still alive!

I'll be buying the Pyra with whatever size it comes. However, I would prefer a minimum of 16GB and ideally 32GB. Lesson from history is you can never have enough memory.

How to calculate a price for the Pyra

I agree. I bought a spare battery for my Pandora but have never had to call upon it. I do swap them around every so often.

Pandora + Pebble = Music Control (and hopefully more)

I will try this week hopefully. But to warn you, I've never successfully used bluetooth in Debian... so I'm not particularly optimistic. :(

Pandora + Pebble = Music Control (and hopefully more)

Hi! I'm also using a Pebble Time (which replaced my classic). My smartphone is there only as support for the pebble... and I would gladly replace most of my use of the smartphone with my Pandora if it were able to talk to the Pebble. I also commute by cycling and being able to control my music...

    Slackware for Pandora 14.1

Funnily enough, slackware was the first distribution I ever tried, back in kernel 0.99pl12 days, when it came on floppies! But I'm Debian through and through these days.

How will the battery be held in place?

Any smaller and one or more of the following would happen: the keyboard would be unusable, the battery would be too small, there would be no full size USB port, there would be no full size SD card slots, etc. The size, as it stands, is ideal for me: portable yet usable.

What will a Pyra be able to do that the OpenPandora can't do now?

Well, I consider that I have full Debian on my Pandora: I'm able to run anything I tend to use on the bigger systems I have. For me, the limitations are hardware: too little memory, relatively slow processor, no appropriate video out for presentations. All of these will be fixed/improved on...
