First information for new Pyra owners (FAQ)

Some os images are designed to automatically flash emmc while others can be used to boot from sd card ? How to differentiate which image is for what ? or any image from left sd card will overwrite emmc while same image in internal sd card will boot ?

Wait for @aTc to reply. Only he can tell the exact file to flash and how to do it.

To do something on emmc you need a working os. As far as I know you will need to download os image and flash it on sd card. Boot from sd card and add bootflag back to emmc using gparted or flash the os from sd card to emmc. The second option will also erase all data you may have on emmc.

First information for new Pyra owners (FAQ)

As far as I can see, mailing list is mainly used to discuss bugs and patches ( to keep hns in loop). Compiling OS and updates are done by atc, which sometimes only discussed on irc channel #dragonbox-dev.

Thanks for unboxing matzesu. It was funny seeing you trying to hide IMEI number. ( it can be read pausing the video)

First information for new Pyra owners (FAQ)

@matzesu look here to find list of common linux applications https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/List_of_applications Some of them may not be available in debian, or have different names, you can search using "apt search <appname>" and install using "sudo apt install <appname>" or use...

Using the Pyra as a web server and phone simultaneously

He may use DDNS, I have done that with my router running dd-wrt. ( I guess you mean fixed IP address) AFAIR, Pyra modem will shift to 2G or 3G connection during call, which will make webserver difficult to access due to slow speed.

    Tales of an Assembly

As aTc noted above, charging with 2Amp shall be fine, ( 1 Amp may be too slow, or not charge at all when processor is eating power) systemctl stop pyra-thermal echo 2000000 > usb_max_current You will need to run this after every reboot, to limit charging current to 2Amp. Better alternative is...

@matzesu Microusb 3 (longer one) and microusb 2 differ in data transfer speed, there shall be no difference in charging.

IRC update: They are still trying OS image, if that works, ED will flash and may ship.

    Just a quick heads up

Most probably shipped units will come with a script to limit charging current to 2A or something. There will be no need to use low powered charger.

Yeah, I need to keep my boat floating for few more months, till at least 1000 Pyras are dispatched.

    Just a quick heads up

ED appears to have cloned himself, with one clone assembling Pyras in the shop during daytime while posting live updates on twitter, and another clone trying to finalize OS with atc and dave on IRC at night. The real one is hopefully celebrating Christmas. From IRC: they are still doing trials...

    Just a quick heads up

I am not following discord, but on irc ED and atc are live, ironing out some stuff, so I guess there is nothing serious there ( or may be I am wrong)

    Just a quick heads up

No, actually he was asking atc to update u-boot in os so that he can start flashing Pyras.
