A work around for lack of touch input on edges of screen

This is good idea. I haven't used mate desktop much, but I guess there might be some config option in mate's window manager to keep space on sides when window is created or maximized, so this same idea can work without using panels (that will save some RAM too )

Which software do you miss on Pyra?

For playing itunes, you may try tunesviewer or shairport-sync. I thing rhythymbox has plugins for ipod support ( i don't know if it is same as playing itunes music, I am apple noob). Which software do you miss on Pyra?

ssh -X or ssh -Y is probably not what matzy is looking for. He will be happier using vnc server/client mechanism like tigervnc or remmina.

Brief Answers to the Big (Pyra) Questions

You are not likely to find anything if you search garageband on synaptic or ubuntu-software-centre, as there is no application named garageband in linux. So you may search that using some search engine. However it may be possible to search for application category in synaptic, like you may try...

    My Pyra review

Only problem with webkit2 based browsers like epiphany is that they don't support every modern website, webkit2 engine lags behind engines like blink( as in chromium) and quantum ( in newer firefox) If you are happy with webkit2, I suggest trying vimb, it is in arch repos.

    My Pyra review

I don't know what firefox actually does with data collected by telemetry, but knowing that google is a major source of income, and we don't know the exact specifics of google-firefox deal, I can't be sure that user data is not shared with google. On that note, just to share something good, I...

showexec option is specific for fat filesystem, however there is "exec" which is universal option. So how about trying to mount manually using exec option.

Basic Linux Questions for New Pyra Owners and Others

I don't exactly understand that. You already know that FAT32 doesn't support file permissions, but you are still trying to do that? Can you explain what you are trying to do, and what is failing ? Anyway my guess is probably you are not able to copy files to FAT32 SD card. In that case can you...

Is anyone using i3 on their Pyra?

For i3bar, battery status, look into .config/i3status/config and edit "path = "/sys/class/power_...." line to reflect pyra battery status. Someone with Pyra can confirm and give exact correction.

Should I have received my final order eMail already?

If you like to read epub in terminal, https://github.com/wustho/epy is very nice option, not good for image heavy books though. It supports mobi too. Just copy epy.py file in your path and you are good to go. ( use "t" for table of contents, "o" to open images)

Should I have received my final order eMail already?

I am using that as my default ebook reader in arch ( from default repo), as well as in raspi os, and I haven't seen a crash yet. I only use it with epub files though, for pdf I prefer qpdfview.

Raspberry Pi OS Accused of 'Phoning Home' To Microsoft

I guess not. What I think is Team Pie has done this so that users can easily install some micorosoft applications using apt-get without needing to manually add repos. ( I don't agree with their way of doing this though). But once that line is commented out, it shall stay that way. However I...
