Just to reiterate I too think that slavishly following a previous design is unnecessarily restrictive, while the Pandora wasn't a terrible design (far from it) I've already seen better layouts on this thread...

If its issuing scan codes, as far as dosbox is concerned its a classic IBM keyboard sending it the shift scancode then the = scancode the fact its some user configurable keyboard/touch screen combo is completely unknown to it, its just seeing scancode 0x2A then 0x0D *if* thats how you choose to...

Its not diverting anything it *is* the input, no reason why it can't *be* the touchscreen driver...
it needn't be complex - its an input driver with a *very* simple graphical menu....

You *could* do it as a userspace app, but it would always be battling other apps and there could be unforseen interactions
Doing it at the hardware level gives a different type of keyboard device, its a keyboard with a touchscreen element baked in this is much more powerful that the separate...
