This distinction may be a little subtle for some (one?) but what I was (and still am) pushing for was for a 2GB Pyra and a 4GB to be tested side by side to see how much benefit is gained from the additional 2GB of Ram. So when people pre ordered a Pyra they would know whether the extra cost of a...
A little bit of background to these sentiments can be found here
By my calculation approximately 92% of pre orders are for a 4GB unit
What do you mean by more than one board? 1 revision? 1 particular board but others of that revision do not work?
1) & 2) Where did the community push for...
Can't see any scenario where hardware changes would be made if all that was required to make 4GB work is a small overvolt. It of course makes sense to look for a solution where overvolting is not necessary, which is my understanding of the current situation re the 4GB issue.
Apologies if that...
Cheers, that interpretation makes sense, also tried to follow what was going on in your linked thread and it was way more than a little over my head :)
@EvilDragon : Any official word on whether the 4GB issue has been solved? This post from @sebt3 seemed pretty promising but the lack of official fanfare regarding this makes me wonder......
Please note that this is in the Ask ED questions section so at least give ED (or anyone else with direct knowledge) a week or two to respond before chipping in.

Hi ED I tried asking this in the keep cool thread but it seemed to get lost and would probably be better here...
What would you do if your Pyra informed you that it had detected hazardous air pollution?
What do you mean by Hazard? Immediately life threatening? Might have a small but quantifiable effect on overall life expectancy? etc.
What do you do now when told by 3rd parties that the area you're in...
Do you mean you expect the cases to be produced in July or do you mean before the end of August?

@EvilDragon Your updates are hugely appreciated of course but if you could find the time to give an overview of the prototyping process it would be much appreciated.
I'd love...
Agreed I should have clarified I meant throttling to lower temperature when the CPU is under heavy load rather than when the system is sitting idle / under low load :)
Great to know, assumed this would be priority number one for the prototypes and was starting to worry there was a fundamental problem, good to hear that it's still probably just timings rather than anything more 'sinister'.
Cheers for the update ED, any news on the 4GB issue?
Also re the charger, please consider giving the option to not receive a charger when ordering a Pyra as per this thread.
Many thanks for these updates ptitSeb
Great to see a Pyra in the wild :)
Not been on the net much the last couple of weeks, do we know who got the other Prototypes & What they've been up to?
Would Pogo pins work?

The whole question of throttling with powerful mobile systems makes me think that the idea of a detachable mini tablet containing the screen & SOC would be a great design choice. It could be fanless & underclocked with a metal back as a heat...
Been doing a bit of reading around concerning how this has impacted upon the NHS (National Health Service) in the UK.
It's a complete debacle, from what I understand a lot of NHS PC's are still running Windows XP, and it's pot luck as to whether those with more a up to date OS have the latest...
Something like a large battery perhaps?
That idea sounds strangely familiar ;)
The GPD win 2 sounds like it could be rather interesting, I might well approach them with the ideas in the above linked post, which I still believe would make a superb system. Looking at the above linked post it...
We had some fairly detailed discussions here about the 'need' for 4GB of Ram.
As mentioned in the above linked thread what I'm really looking forward to are some real world tests comparing the 2GB & 4GB versions showing things like the implications for battery life & swap file performance etc...
