How is it as a phone?

thx for the hint. I have tried but dont get the webrtc module running which seems working better. I think it could be included when building the OS for the pyra.

How is it as a phone?

I have started to develop an Phone-App. I am testing it with a Huawei USB 3G modem with enabled call funcionality. Starting and receiving calls, reading/writing SMS and import contacts via vcard already works. The actual problem i have is that i actually dont know how to prevent the acoustic...

    Modem interfaces (voice,data,...)

So, the benefit from a voicemail function against the provider voicemail is, you have the voice files directly on the pyra and dont need to call the provider-mailbox?

    Modem interfaces (voice,data,...)

I have played around with my huawei modem to learn how to use the voice feature. There are ttyUSB0, ttyUSB1 and ttyUSB2. 0 and 2 are serials ports for AT-commands. At ttyUSB2, asynchron messages like RING appear on a incoming call. When i send "AT^DDSETEX=2" while on a call, the modem enables...

    anbox.io android app layer

http://anbox.io/ Seems very promising to get android apps running native on the pyra without dualboot a complete android.

Quite a bit for you to read!

I'm more on ED's opinion, benchmarks are not perfect. For all day use, the best comparison would be: Take a standard pyra, a mux-removed pyra and maybe a gpd win. Make a video and open for example gimp at the same time and look how big is the time difference until opened, after a fresh reboot...

Quite a bit for you to read!

So, the emmc speed loss is not ~50%, its just ~25% in this test? We will see the final result when the neuro-surgeon-work is done. For me, the pyra still will be a perfect device as i think 70MB/s is pretty fast for a mobile device.

    Modem interfaces (voice,data,...)

What are the benefits from C++14 about C++11? What i know is that the Qt lib already had functions and containers that you just got when using the Boost library, and the stuff from Boost are now mostly integrated in C++11. Anyway, i normally use Qt and C++, but dont force a new version of C++...

    Modem interfaces (voice,data,...)

Can i also sync this with my android phone? First i will create an csv-import, then look for a sync function. When i remember back to my N900 days, there never was a sync function which was working good, and worked without problems, so i will look forward how complicated it is. My first...

    Modem interfaces (voice,data,...)

I have planned to implement these tabs, changeable with the shoulder buttons (like on this nice pnd store on the pandora): Call | Dial | Call list | Contacts | SMS | Whatsapp | Whatsapp web | Settings The stuff i dont know if i will be able to integrate is whatsapp(Yowsup) and google contacts...

    Modem interfaces (voice,data,...)

Hi, as I think about developing a phone application, I have checked the connection between modem and cpu. But there are a lot of questions... In the schematics of the pyra mainboard are some signals i dont find in the PLS8 datasheet...

    We've started to order things!

Did i understand correctly, the 1.5GHz issue seems to be solved by a u-boot pactch? What was this magic bit? So the last prototype boards are already working with full speed?

My net buddies are trying to talk me out of getting Pyra.

I see the pyra as a mini sized laptop, not as a gaming device. This is an other price class. The reasons why i want it is because of the faster webbrowsing (compared to my 600MHz pandy), the backlight keyboard, the fancy mobile stuff and the (for me) better operating system. An iPhone is also...

News from the meeting at GC

It's possible that some boards will run at 1.7GHz and some will not. Hopefully all boards will run stable at 1.5GHz.

News from the meeting at GC

Is there any disclosure for the public what does cost how much? I think something about: CPU board(2gb) 200€ Mainboard(standard ed.) 100€ Display+touch 50€ Case+keymat 30€ Battery 20€ Development(all the work, licences, prototype production) 100€ --- sum 500€ So you have to sell something...

Will it be the 3.revision of the CPU board? HL3 primary release on the Pyra confirmed!

Pyra as full mobile phone replacement?

Just to throw in something: https://asteroidos.org In theory, it would be possible to connect a smartwatch with the pyra, which notifies you on a call. With a bluetooth headset, it would be easy to answer a call. When I get my pyra (preorder ~#970 will take a long time:( ) I would give this a...

Pyra as full mobile phone replacement?

When the Pyras are shipped, we can start a contest who will make the fanciest phone-application. As I think qt development will be easier than on the Pandora (because of debian), I'm in!

    Pyra christmas update :)

I could do 3D printing for the PyDock (or whatever the name for the dockingstation will be) and ship it to the austrian community members, as national shipping is much cheaper. I never will understand how can i order electronic stuff from china with free shipping, but from germany it costs...
