Starting a new life (career wise at least)!

(Unless we are talking about UI code that is always horrible for nontrivial applications) I don't agree. Horrible code is definitely the students fault and - in my experience as a (former) teaching assistant - is almost always associated with having no grasp of semantics (at least of some kind...

If a default choice is set, which desktop environment the Pyra OS should have ?

Note that tinywm (and probably some other of the very old resp. very small ones) does not implement everything some applications expect from a window manager, so there will be problems in everyday usage (I seem to remember that firefox is among the affected applications, but I may be wrong).

    Disable Compose key?

It isn't possible to change the 'type' of a key using xmodmap. https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/xmodmap-help-needed.77160/#post-1371239 provides a full xkb map file that should allow you to do what you want (note that 'Compose' is named 'Multi_Key'). Setting type of <RTRN> to...

Pictures, Videos and thoughts of a Pyra dev-prototype

NB: Has someone successfully run a debug build of Palemoon? It's asserting left and right for me, and some of these asserts (like in the JS engine) really do worry me. Is it just my configure options?

    Perfect camera for Pyra/Pandora?

A camera wasn't voted down by the community. IIRC it was never seriously considered at all by ED, because of complexity and size.

What are you playing this weekend/these days?

IIUC Icewind Dale is deliberately designed like that in order to appeal to a different audience.

What if it isn't the CO2?

Obviously we are not able to productively communicate. To me your arguments are incoherent bullshit and vice versa. Therefore at least one of us has a severe case of Dunning-Kruger and since I cannot be sure it isn't me, I'll leave this discussion to thatgui who to me seems more competent.

    Alive and kicking (some pictures)

Look at https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/xmodmap-help-needed.77160/#post-1371239 for a sample that should be adaptable to achieve your goal. Note that the console keymap is different and there ALT+Fn is working, though I mostly just use ALT+Left/Right (it seems there are only two VTs...

What if it isn't the CO2?

Actually there has been no controversy about climate change for a couple of years, even ten years ago, alternative explanations required carefully cherry picked atmospheric temperature data (which has become even more difficult recently). But atmospheric temperature has too big variability to...

    E3 2017

To me it doesn't look like there will be huge performance/$ increases, because from the informatione available it looks like the the smaller nodes are significantly more expensive to design for and build while at the same time delivering less benefits in electrical properties compared to earlier...

    Thanks to all the devs.

It should be remembered, though, that most of the support is dedication by a very small number of individuals. Most have been mentioned above personally already, therefore I'd like to add a especially big THANKS to ptitseb and Canseco for the large number of packages they are continually keeping...

    Alive and kicking (some pictures)

CTRL-ALT-F2 is easily possible on the Pandora, because Fn is sticky, but for some reasons VT_SWITCH bindings don't work on the non gaming keys. Putting VT_SWITCH on the Pandora key works fine, though.

    Can't download Code::Blocks

There once was a problem after an upgrade on the repo resulting in PHP (or whatever it is) inserting some diagnostic messages into the download. Might be worth checking whether there is something like this happening again (perhaps by just doing strings on the PND and grepping for 'error' or...

    Absurdism corner

My Chinese is crappy and I'm too lazy to copy it all into mdbg.net, but the translation seems to be not so far off. edit: a Chinese says the translation is fine (didn't know such signs exist, but wasn't much surprised either).

    Ubisoft F**kery

Calling Tom Clancy related thingies mature is quite a good joke:-)

    The evolution of AAA gaming

I've (amateurishly) been collecting games for several decades. The good were always outnumbered many times by the bad or ugly. The bad games just don't get remembered as much. And the market always tried to go where the money is, producing lots of crappy Epigones. IMO the indie scene isn't any...

How useful is this latest Humble Book Bundle? (Linux and Open Source)

I agree with Caine. All the material is freely available and it is certainly possible to gather the knowledge through self study, but I think for most people it is easier, faster, and much more entertaining to go to university:-)

Cracked LCD, replacement not in stock

There is a pnd with an updated tslib (http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=tsupdate.dimag0g) that has a more elaborate calibration. Perhaps that has been installed?

    Download Pyra Debian OS (WIP)

I dislike firefox (because of complexity of the code base, some stupid decisions as well as IMO unsuitable strategic direction). Fortunately currently it is easy enough on debian to avoid the distribution provided pulseausio or firefox package and either build your own version or use...

    DBP repository

Adding to Levi's explanation: the idea as I see it is not primarily a closed app store eco system, but a way to manage applications installed on removable storage, because internal storage is limited (though not as severely as on the Pandora). Still it is mostly about convenience and not about...
